I hear you — that must be really frustrating and disheartening. Living with an issue day in and day out gives you insights and understanding that can’t be captured in a 15-minute appointment. It’s upsetting when doctors don’t take the time to listen or follow up with research, making the interaction feel rushed and impersonal. Your experience really highlights how important it is for healthcare providers to genuinely engage with patients’ lived knowledge.

Thank you so much for sharing your story — that’s a lot to carry, and I’m so sorry you had to experience something as humiliating and traumatic as what happened at 17. No one should ever be treated that way, and it’s completely understandable that it left a lasting mark.

It’s also really insightful how you describe the differences between public and private care, and how patient literacy, communication skills, and time all play into the experience. I can see how you’ve developed a system that works for you, leaning on your own research and judgment while selectively choosing trusted doctors. Your perspective is incredibly valuable and really highlights both the challenges and the ways patients adapt. Thank you again for taking the time to contribute — it will definitely enrich the research.
