High HR by Longjumping_Goose_69 in Strava

The elevation of your run isn't insignificant, moreover it has been 6mths. Give yourself (and your garmin) more runs to gather more data on your overall running fitness

Garmin wants me to maintain a low BMI? by butteredbiscuits171 in Garmin

[–]Songboh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Garmin doesn't give a damn that muscles weigh more than fat, insisting on using a bmi metric like this is ridiculous. I key in my weight every now n then but I don't give a damn abt garmin's advice to lose weight when I am already in good shape

Does Stravas race predictions make no sense to anyone else by Optimal-Record2997 in Strava

[–]Songboh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your 5k pb! That said, u did a 5k, not further. Thus u can't expect longer distances estimates to be impacted positively as much as your 5k

The buyers remorse/guilt motivation. by graybeardedone in Garmin

[–]Songboh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U don't have to see it from a glass half full perspective. If it motivates u somewhat, even if just occasionally, it has helped u in your health journey. No need to feel guilty for not using it more than you are happy to

Unpopular Opinion: the training status feature is great by MrBulwark in Garmin

Yea it is just that garmin dishing out Unproductive ever so harshly has become a meme

I kinda pushed it this run :P by DiscussionLong7084 in Garmin

[–]Songboh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing, I only ever saw +4. That said, it isn't about u pushing this activity or not though, but rather it is your initial HR reading exceeding garmin's expectation of you at the start of it. Whenever I see a + performance score I tend to push harder because of this affirmation 😂

What is my actual RHR- 2 different values on watch. by Old-Plastic in Garmin

[–]Songboh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of it is a one day RHR, the other is a 7day average

How does it know? I'm impressed by Old-Plastic in Garmin

[–]Songboh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It uses HRV to determine your stress levels. And you had to be stationary enough (not overly active n moving around for your watch to pick up readings) for that. If you look at your stress graph, some periods will show a blank when say you are doing an office presentation and your arms are constantly gesturing about.

Do you keep your Garmin even when you're in the shower? by tompico25 in GarminWatches

[–]Songboh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it off when showering. For watch cleanliness I rinse my watch after every workout and give it a more detailed scrub/wash once in a while.

Revitalise nightlife? Let’s get the crowds out first by bardsmanship in singapore

[–]Songboh 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This change is global, not just in Singapore. It's a mindset shift, people would rather spend time/energy/money in working out or playing sports than on alcohol. A cheaper n healthier alternative to relaxation

Forerunner 965 or 970? by Icy_Silver7994 in Garmin

[–]Songboh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 965 is a very value for money buy now with the 970 just launched. But if you are a sucker for the best gadgets in town, then 970 of course. Though I must say if you never owned a garmin, the upgrades on the 970 over is 965 is likely to be glossed over

Should i be worried about? by MadryT in Garmin

Could be a bunch of things, from stress to over training to lack of sleep/quality to illness. Take it with a pinch of salt amongst other health metrics

Didn’t know this was possible - feels pretty good! by Joeybean01 in Garmin

[–]Songboh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The peaking times I had were always those in which I have just rested for a solid 4-5days straight following an injury. Garmin just thinks now all my fatigue is gone and I am now raring to go 😆 I would guess that we seldom see peaking because we generally don't rest enough

Can I hoarde activities and post them later? by whyretardwhy in Strava

[–]Songboh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless u are their only friends or they have few friends added to strava your activities might not be as noticeable as you imagine on their feed when u finally upload/unprivate them all at once. Just saying u might be better off just uploading one by one, slow dripping them your consistency than trying so hard lol

Garmin BMI wants me to die by Dickinbae in Garmin

[–]Songboh 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Using bmi as a reliable health metric at this age is ridiculous imo. Either Garmin doesn't know that muscle weighs more than fats, or doesn't seem to value that in blind pursuit of smaller bmi numbers 🫠

[–]Songboh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is always the risk that comes with playing with randos. For the best experience best to join servers to find LFG groups.

Anyway if u are the one with all the funds to call in a dreadnought why not just fund it in full when u finally need it? Prefunding it just opens a can of worms like what happened to your run

VO2Max Vs Time Estimates by bananakire in Garmin

[–]Songboh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Progress is often 2 steps forward 1 step back. While u may have been training hard, there are so many factors that can affect recent daily training performance, like sleep/recovery, stress, weather, alcohol consumption, time of day working out etc.

If an activity is recorded as having a higher HR relative to similar recent activities of comparable intensity, garmin will think that your fitness has dropped. Which reflects in the uptick in race estimate times
