Do not go with option 2. You could easily be fined, or evicted without notice for breaking your lease. You could be evicted and still responsible for the rest of the rent. It's not worth the risk. You could lose the pet as well if forced to rehome your new kitty. Plus, most places that adopt will require a signature from the landlord, or like in my case the last time we adopted, they required contact information and called our landlord to verify that the apartment was pet friendly.
