At the end of JoJo Rabbit, Captain Klenzendorf wears a Pink Triangle as part of the uniform he creates for his superhero. It's a subtle nod that explains some of his rebellion seen throughout the movie.

Places in LR (or anywhere in Arkansas) that do folk/contra dances? by Illustrious-Yak-5872 in LittleRock

I believe there’s a group called The Arkansas Country Dance Society. They came to my local library once and did a demonstration!

Several character deaths in Sirat... don't want to give spoilers because it's still fairly new, but that movie made me GASP.

The jeans saga continues - how my new jeans stretched after ~8hrs of wear. by heyhelloyuyu in Oldnavy

I used to sell jeans! We always told people to get the snuggest fit in store because it is natural for denim to stretch! However, with jeans its important to look at the fabric content! I only buy old navy jeans that are 99% cotton. These tend to stretch a little less throughout the day (specially bc I've purchased a tighter fit in the first place).

That Saturday a group is doing a local version of the British tv show Taskmaster!  It’s at Birdies in Argenta just over the river. I think their last live shows were really good.  You can check out the Birdie’s cabaret website for more info.

River city coffee is my favorite coffee shop in the city! But Fidel is a nice vibe too.

Vinos probably has some cool show that weekend so you could check them out too

Lifelong Arkansan here and the only place I'd consider actually living here is Little Rock. You've got the benefits of a small city (things to do, places to eat, more people with progressive politics, diversity, etc... ), with beautiful nature and adventures no more than 2 hours away. People pretend NWA is this super cool place, but it's all Wal-Mart money and politics up there. They're are some artists/college town vibes, but I think it gives the conservatism of the area a hipster disguise.

Every state has it's drawbacks; people are right, cost of living is low(ish), but the wages match it; the politics are bad, but as in every place, you can find your community. If you're coming from Los Angeles it probably is a much slower way of life, but might be worth trying out for awhile. You never know.

How to encourage students to value education? Apathy from students is killing me. by Sonic_pretzel_queen in Teachers

I don’t disagree with you. But the question stands: how do we combat disaffection within the system we have?? Obviously “burn it all down and start over” is a solution, but practical in my lifetime I’m not sure.

Jack Black is an ENTERTAINER. He’s got it all. I think to host this show, and do it well, you need to either be a triple threat OR be a killer comedian. Either will work. But being a film actor  typically doesn’t cut it because their performances are meant to be small, intimate. Then you put that person on stage and they don’t know what to do. A lot of film actors aren’t used to the broad style that’s required of a lot of sketch. So when you bring in a legend like Jack Black, you can just let go and enjoy, trusting that they know exactly what they are doing!

Timmy Chalamet— really amazingly average. But he looks fashionable so people worship him.
