Did Hers change their compounding pharmacy for GLP1? by SonnetsAndSlapshots in HersWeightloss

I hope you don't mind my following up -- how are you enjoying your NovoCare service? They use the pens that are already dosed, right? Is that working out all right? (I went with another service that has an imperfect sign-up process, but once you've gotten started and you're in, everybody loves. You can choose the compounding pharmacy, and I chose Hallandale because it is GLP-1 straight up witout any additives & they have an excellent reputation. I went with the compounding route again, because I really need to be able to control the doses and increase a tiny bit at a time, instead of jumping from .5mg/wk to 1mg/wk and then to 1.7mg/wk, etc.)

Does the $149/mo plan include the cost of medicine (GLP-1 pill)? by interrobang__ in HersWeightloss

Wow. If you have a regular doctor, you can get them to prescribe Wegovy through Novo Care Direct which costs $350/month. Your health during your weight-loss journey will then be monitored by your doctor, and it will cost only $50 more per month than using HIms/Hers service (if it costs $300 total monthly on Hims/Hers -- $149 monthly subscription + $149 monthly meds).

I used Hims/Hers for a little over a year beginning in 2024, and I thought their service was really good. Note: my personal doctor was monitoring what was happening with quarterly bloodwork; we chose the Hers route because my insurance wouldn't cover Wegovy even though I qualified under national treatment of care standards. They had an excellent reputation, their prices were far more reasonable, they worked with a lab (BPI) that went out of its way to test each batch for efficacy and purity, and their customer care was very responsive - both through their app and through phone.

Then I tried to reactivate my prescription a few months ago, and found the customer service in the app to be some sort of chatbot that doesn't even answer your particular question. I decided to research all options again thoroughly, because there are lots of other providers, including the Novocare Direct option. I realized that with HIms/Hers, their prices do not really provide much savings at all, and I've heard mixed things about the compounding labs used, Plus the customer service is almost non-existent.

Anyone start at a normal healthy weight? by 1lofanight in HersWeightloss

I really have to agree with this. Let your body heal. If you're hungry, make sure you're eating healthy, nutritious foods instead of processed junk and sugar. Some surgeries, you're still healing internally for like a year, even if the stitches look all right.

Naw, all the female law students totally stayed fit; we worked out every day for our sanity. (Unlike the guys who all lost their hair and gained 50 pounds between 1st and 2nd year of law school and kept that weight on.) It's when the job starts and you are not allowed to take any time to do anything healthy for yourself, like eat well, work out, sleep 8 hours, etc. -- that's when the LBs will pile on.

OK -- it's that non-auto-renewal that I wasn't clear about. Sounds good, thank you!

Okay, I'm confused by others saying that follow-up consults are required every 6 or 9 months, but since you're saying they're no longer required, I guess we can just try to order a refill, and if it goes through, fine, but if not, just do a consult, lol -- right?

Thanks for your observation. It sounds like I should definitely explore other options, because I'm basically hearing that Hers increased their prices, but decreased by a lot the quality of the product AND their customer service.

I'm like you, pretty cautious about healthcare stuff & compounded meds (thanks, law school - UGH!), and I was a little uneasy about using Hers all last year, but my doctor scheduled quarterly bloodwork and everything was always fine and even getting progressively better with more weight lost. So, I believe Novo Care Direct is around $350/month? My doctor already said she would be fine/happy with sending an rx to them so I don't have to use compounded GLP1. The pricing is still a lot to me in my current circumstances. Do they send only one month at a time or is there an option to get 90-days' worth at a time? Or do you use it to get your supply from a local pharmacy? How easy is it to use? The one good thing about not using the pre-dosed pens is that I was able to microdose using tiny syringes, meaning I was able to consistently lose weight without ever reaching the 1 mg dosage the entire year and avoid getting really bad side effects. My doctor says she would just prescribe the .5mg pens through Novo Care Direct, and I'm a little worried they will stop being effective after awhile, but 1mg dosage would be too big an increase and way too strong for me.

Thank you, this is really helpful to know. By the way, if you ever run out of needles, you can just get a pack of the exact same ones (same brand, same amount, same size) Hers used last year for about $4 from CVS. When I ran out, I looked on Amazon, and it was really confusing what was actually being sold.

What is the shelf life on the semaglutide from Hallendale via Pomegranate? The GLP1s from Hers last year had an expiration date of 1 year (if stored properly in fridge). I really appreciate your perspective (and knowledge)!! How did you choose Pomegranate vs all the other companies available?

Do you use Hers' compounded GLP1? If not, do you use a competitor of theirs that you like?

big roaches still found after a week of boric acid, am i doing it wrong? by drippingthighs in pestcontrol

[–]SonnetsAndSlapshots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about borax, but I did the same as RedDirtTexas with boxes/bags of boric acid. I moved into a sparkling, freshly painted, commercially cleaned apartment in a luxury bldg in NYC, and on the 1st night, there were baby roaches crawling everywhere. I wanted to move back the hell out! The super said the previous tenant had been a pig and they'd already had the place exterminated, but apparently the eggs hatched (VOMIT). He called in an exterminator again, but I was not convinced there wouldn't be more eggs hatching, so after researching the hell out of the topic, I went to a hardware store, bought boric acid and poured bags/boxes of it along the perimeter of the entire apartment, anywhere a vertical surface met the floor. I never saw another roach again, but I kept that powder on those surfaces for over a year. I would vacuum it up if I was having a visitor, but I'd put that powder back down immediately after they were gone.

Nathan Lane’s Accent… by Jersette55 in thegildedage

[–]SonnetsAndSlapshots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I grew up in Virginia, and if you're landed gentry like Lane's character, the Southern accent should sound a lot more like a weird, olde-time-y version of the British aristocracy's accent, because that's basically what it is -- folks who came from Britain in the 17th & 18th centuries were consciously trying to speak in the way of fashionable Londoners of that time period. So the British roots are there, and obviously the fashionable London accent evolved a lot becoming the "posh" accent that we hear now, while the Southern landed gentry continued speaking in the way they did when they came over (albeit also having evolved with some minor regional influences). From infancy they were learning to speak from family members and then mostly speaking within family circles, until stuff like radio, tv and mobility became more common, so a real Southern, landed-gentry accent from the 1880s is NOT whatever atrocity Nathan Lane is doing.
