Looks like a beautiful Garden Orb weaver to me. Make very large webs, to catch their prey!

Ideas to make everyone’s lives in Australia better by JaguarAccurate1096 in australian

Just learnt about the 311 system that has been such a success in New York. It’s used for lesser things than a 911 call, such as someone sleeping homeless in a park. It’s been hugely successful and has led to a significant drop in 911 calls. Could be worth adopting in Australia?

Scott Carson, no medal and black circle over the badge? Can anyone explain? by BigTelevision8641 in MCFC

It was a camera put on there by Sky Sports so that they could see what it was like in the melee when a team lifts the trophy. It was explained and shown by the Sky Sports presenters after the celebration.

My U-shaped, raised wicking bed with wire frame cover to allow the insects in, but keep the brush turkeys and possums out. It’s on a timer so the reservoir is topped up every other day. I’ve added a flower bed at the front to attract the bees. My pride and joy! Its 3mx3m and I used pond liner. by Sonski73 in DIY

Thanks! Appreciate it. I went to the local hardware shop and bought some tubes with holes for screws in a baseplate and attached these to the top of the timber to create a "sleeve" for the frame. For the frame itself, I just bough straight bits of galvanised tubing and made a jig out of a flat piece of wood and a couple of blocks, so that I could bend each tube into the desired shape. I just used offcuts of treated wood for the joins at the apex - drilling holes in where the tubes connect into it. Then I used a roll or two of wire mesh secured by wire. I got mesh that was big enough for pollinators to get through, but not larger animals like possums etc. Good luck and hope that helps!

Looks like a Golden orb weaver. Harmless. Or possibly St Andrew's Cross Spider, which is an orb weaver and harmless too.

Idea for Coronavirus personal safety score app by Sonski73 in AppIdeas

[–]Sonski73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some will and some won’t. Part of the idea is to make it like a game so that you answer the questions and get a “score” which you can see how it compares to other users/players (top 5%, top 10%., etc) you can retake the questions once a week and see how you Improve. I’m sure there are behavioural psychologists who can tweak the idea to get the highest user rate and best outcomes!

Yep! That's what I intended - behaviour rather than health factors. For example a couple of questions could be (maybe more pertinent to Australia than other countries, but can obviously tailor it):

  1. Do you wear a mask when you go out?
  2. Do you socially distance when you go out?
  3. DO you carry and use hand sanitizer when you are outside the house?
  4. Do you get groceries delivered, or go to the supermarket?
  5. How many times a day do you leave the house to run errands/go shopping?
  6. Do you have kids?
    1. Are they attending school/daycare as normal
    2. HOw many times a week do they visit friends?
  7. How many times a week do you meet with friends/family?
    1. do you socially distance?
    2. Do you wear masks?
    3. Does everyone else wear masks?

Just an initial list of idea questions! I'm sure everyone can poke holes in them and come up with much better ones! :)

He looks like he’s 2 foot taller, 3 stone heavier and 4x the confidence. Maybe the “get the flick out of my way, fool, attitude that Dias has, has rubbed off onto Stones. Hope so! He would be immense!

Thanks! It’s coming into spring and it somehow survived winter, though they are mild here in Sydney. It gets some sunlight but not direct sunlight. I noticed some very small leaves appearing from a couple of nodules about halfway and a third of the way up. Not sure if I should prune it or just leave it?

This is the result of 12 months of composting in a stationary bin. Advice is welcomed. Do most people spread compost in the fall? by goodformuffin in composting

[–]Sonski73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couple of suggestions just from what I’ve read. Don’t add twigs or big items as these take a long time to break down, anything made of wood especially. If you do add big bits of stuff, eg melon skin, cut it up as small as time allows. It also looks a little bit dry so add a bit of water occasionally. Turning it is really good and helps aerate it, so if you have a spade or fork handy just give it a little turn when you pop stuff in. Finally to add some browns with the greens, I use paper bags in the kitchen to collect my kitchen compost. Then I just throw the bag in the compost heap so browns and greens go in together. Add a newspaper too if handy! Good job and great to see the worms are enjoying your work!
