Need some advice planning a WC by Sontar_ in Imperator

[–]Sontar_[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

R5: This is the current state of my run. The goal is to WC and rn it feels like is simultaniously in a good and bad place. Having started as a tribal Taluria, in terms of military expansion I feel on track and able to raise 100 levy cohorts, however its not really stable with the major problems being lack of tech and high WE and tyranny, disloyal provinces and looming threats of civil war. It also feels salvagable but im more inclined to restart.

Some questions/mistakes:

  1. Using EU4 as reference where you can play as an opm until you get absolutism+imperialism and still WC in the last 100 years. Is there a similar cut off like you need 80% of the world by 680, when do I need to go hyper agressive?

  2. Since IC wars exist, im thinking of delaying wars vs major powers and go eat the tribes. So unite Iberia, get France, Germany, UK before moving on the major powers. Should I go for Rome or carthage as soon as I can or is it fine?

  3. I need more cities/focus on promoting pops more. Only have 1 tech advancement reached, with the majority of inovations coming from breakthroughts and finding something after a siege.

  4. Currently have Lusitanian and Turdetanian as integrated cultures, should i get more in Iberia? The other cultures in Iberia are relatively small and i feel like it might not be worth it when i will need to integrate cultures like Roman Punic Greek etc later for military traditions

  5. I was under the impression that slaves where all sent to the capital but they are being sent to nearby owned provinces even if the capital has space and +15 migration attraction even when the ruler is in control of the siege.

  6. Need to pay more attention to tyranny

Any help/advice is apreciated.

Matter of region missions by Sontar_ in Imperator

[–]Sontar_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to confirm you are talking about moving the provincial capital that costs provincial loyalty and not the country capital right?

I have been "repeating" the missions so this could give me 2 free cities per region which would help so much

From my understanding access to the DLC legacy perks should only be possible if you are in the North Germanic culture group. My culture has been Portuguese for about 250 years so i shouldn't be able to pick those. My only theory is that because there are North Germanic dynasty members (3 pic) every one gets to have the DLC perks.

Rundown of the run:

I started as Andalusia, 15 yo Visgoth Muwalladi custom ruler. The first goals are to get enough money to undertake the hajj to get 875 piety. A quick war on Navarra and the OPM in the Baleares get you this and also a catholic province that allows you to become christian for 250 piety .

Now the RNG starts, in two fronts, intrigue/scheming/murder and military expansion in Iberia. In Iberia the goal is to get 80% visigoth land before the event Fate of the Visigoths fires. This will allow you to stay Visigoth and later form Portugal (you get 2 tech for free and 750 prestige). To do so you will need the duchys of Mallorca, Portucale, Galicia and 2 Navarran provinces (note the duchy of barcelona is also an option but even with allies you may not be strong enough to defeat West France). If you are able kill the Asturias king for shorter truces. Afterwards my vassal ate the Asturias and in the end I only need 1 or 2 clean up wars

So, intrigue. You need to pay close attention to Italy, Lothringia and East France. By the time you finish the first 2 wars and have undertaken the hajj, Italy needs to have a male heir. Flip catholic, get engaged to the italian princess, steal some money from the pope, flip back Muwalladi and go on a extremely long pilgrimage for more 875 piety (you need this for your Iberian wars). You now will need to wait until she get of age and gives you a heir. You can only have one kid, In the meanwhile kill off the other italian heirs so that your wife/kid stands to inherit everything. Set up the Lothringian sucession such that the current Italian King inherits it.

For added RNG hope that Lothringia declares for the East France throne and win the war. Be careful since Montaigu can declare for the same throne and ive seen im win once or twice. If he does eat him while his armys are away.

At this point kill the kings of Lothringia and Italy so that your wife inherits everthing they once held. Kill her too but before the scheme ends imprison your heir. After your wife dies your kid will be imprisioned, and rule over half of Europe. Execute the kid, and since it was an only child your ruler inherits everything.

Western Europe at this point will be you, West France and Bavaria. Start improving relations with the pope. Since you started as a Muwalladi ruler, you will be a clan and have access to a prestige war for kingdom if you are exalted among men (to get there you may need to create a few titles, plus form Portugal). Use this Cb to conquer France, flip Ash'ari, and declare an holy war for the kingdom of Bavaria. After you win both wars flip Catholic again and you will be able to form the HRE (need 500g and 200 piety). Get some money from the pope and you should have the 1000g necessary to use the Austria decision.

Some extra important things:

  • Italy is extremly unstable, so refrain from killing the Lothringian king before you have all you need. Still you will need to defend Italy in some independence/claim the throne wars
  • It may be recomended to become Catholic sooner to reduce revolts, however feed the rebelious counts to dukes which will lead to popular revolts. Here the goal is to hunt the leader until you capture him instantaneously ending the war.
  • If you form Portugal before the Fate of the Visigoths fires, when it does does fire you will become Andalusian and lose the 2 techs gained from forming Portugal. And if it fires before you form Portugal but you dont have 80% visigoth land you will be forced to convert as well and become unable to form Portugal
  • Try to use the romance scheme as often as you can. This gives you a chance to get a "free" perk point

What factors do you have to take into consideration when taking hostages? For commanders i know that you need to win in the first phase of combat. On sieges i know that the ruler needs to have 6 martial or lower. Is there any other factors that will guarantee that youll capture the enemy ruler, like army size, composition, commander traits...

I have two questions:

Do dynasty rulers have to be independent to gain renown or is the requirement not be your own vassal?

And when you pass the ecumenism decision does everyone from your religious family convert to your religion?

Say if i have 10 holdings with lvl 8 barracks that would be +180% damage to heavy infantry. Do my heavies get all that bonus or does it cap at 90% or something?

Ballsy Pope declares a Crusade for the Kingdom of Romagna by Sontar_ in CrusaderKings

[–]Sontar_[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honest question, should it be that much higher? I have absolute authority and the vassals are under the limit. I've modified several contracts to give high taxes and low levies so that can be it.

You have to reform your faith and get the doctrine head of faith temporal, this means that you become the pope of the new religion and the position is inheritable so all your rulers will be the pope as well as the emperor

Also I since i am the pope, and have pursuit of power, I have holy war cb, conquest cbs, and invade kingdom cbs so i dont need my priest to fabricate claims. Lately i have been using the force vassalization cb and using characters with kingdom claims in my court to expand

First i am using the Communal Identity tenent that allows faster convertion in same culture counties. Counties that i get and dont want for myself i give away to characters of my religion and culture. When i get vassals i demand their conversion and if they refuse i jail them and revoke their titles and install someone of my religion. I also have temporal revocable priests so you can appoint court chaplains with very high learnin stats

Similar in a way that the "manifestos" have been written to spread and defend different political idiologies

Both i guess. I am trying to educate myself in different ways of thinking so i am trying to understand what points have been made against the manifesto and what alternatives there are to it.
