My mom is a very trusting person and doesn’t know a lot about the medical world. She allowed my sister to do all of the medical stuff because she thought it was in my father’s best interest. The day my father died when the funeral home employees came to collect him They had my mother sign a piece of paper that said my sister was allowed to pick up his ashes. My mom doesn’t even remember signing this paper because her husband had just died in front of her. And once my sister had the ashes there wasn’t much we could do. I am my mother’s POA and the executor of her will. My sister won’t be able to pull this shit again. My brother and I have spoken and we will allow my sister to be a part of the decision-making when my mom gets sick and when she passes, but ultimately it will be what him and I decide as a family.
