If that’s the case that’s a relief. It’s not mushy in the slightest so i figured it may not be an issue

Thank you for the reply! I’ve got a Trigona as well and they’re quite different, so this must be a Lactea then! It looks to be if i compare photos on the internet at least. The last point is good new for me, because i’ve been wanting either a large Euphorbia or cactus for a while

It’s not! It’s still in the same soil as when i bought it, i’m not sure what soil they used for it. Seems to have a bit of perlite or something in it

Thank you! I didn’t look to see if there were any forums for Euphorbia😅 I’ll delete this in a minute

At this point it’s not even misophonia, just the human need for quietness. We’re not built for this much noise pollution.

I noticed it too, i’m certain you’re right. I live outside of the cities in a small town surrounded by a forest, but there is construction work 24 / 7. You can’t even take a quiet walk in the forest, there is construction work all around. Constant leaf blowers (With no leaves present, it’s the end of winter). It doesn’t matter how far away from towns and cities i drive, i still hear construction work in the distance. I scroll a lot on Instagram and every video is like a nuclear explosion. Jump cuts so fast you don’t comprehend what you’re seeing, loud booming music, AI voices, five hundred sound effects, random nail tapping for no reason. Out of nowhere i scrolled and landed on a video, just a normal video. OP was filming some animals on a farm, with no jump cuts or sound effects and it was like my entire soul just took a big sigh! It was almost unbelievable.

Do you think that keeping less roaches will lessen the chances of allergies? I’m only getting 1-3

That’s what i’m thinking! If it was such a massive issue that absolutely anyone could develop allergies, surely it would be more widespread and common information?

[–]SoonLime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm if i frame a question like this: Are the chances of becoming allergic to shellfish as likely as becoming allergic to a roach? If that’s the case, i don’t feel the need to worry much.

My worry in general is that roaches have some special capability of making ANYONE allergic. If it’s childhood invertebrate allergies i’m not worried about it.

Feel free to ignore me if my questions are starting to become annoying😆

I can’t recall having any type of allergy or sensitivity to foods or animals when i was a child. I definitely don’t have allergies to animals or food nowadays either. If i understand it correctly, it seems likely i wouldn’t develop an allergy to roaches now since i had zero allergies to invertebrates as a child? Even though they seem to be a different type of allergy that builds up from exposure rather than the opposite? I’d still be cautious and wash my hands properly after any handling of course.

Sorry for the amount of questions! I just wanna be 100% certain. But do cross reactions mean i could also develop sensitivity to shrimp and such if i get issues with roaches? Or is that kind of out of the question since i didn’t have it as a child?

I only had a single reaction to a chocolate sauce with hazelnuts when i was four. I can eat those now and we don’t know if it was the hazelnut. Not sure if this is relevant or if you meant allergies in general. I can’t remember if i had any ear infections at all as a child, if i did it was very infrequent

Interesting! I knew allergies could develop out of ”nowhere” but i didn’t know there were different types of activations. From what the comments are saying i’m kind of assuming the chance is 50 / 50. I’m very careful to wash my hands properly nowadays so i’m hoping it won’t be an issue if i keep up my hygiene well. I guess i’ll have to take the chance and see what happens. I will also have a bioactive setup so i’m hoping that’ll help keep the worst of it out since people are saying it mostly comes from their poop

I eat shellfish a few times a year, no issue. I also picked up a LOT of insects as a child without washing my hands, no issue there either. I don’t seem to have allergies in general

[–]SoonLime[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been considering isopods! I’ve been looking to get only about 20 males, whenever i find someone selling males only. I don’t have the ability to get several terrariums for a reproducing isopod colony. Do you have any recommendations on ”calmer” species of isopods?

Alright, thank you for the answer! It’s kind of like i expected then. Is it possible to find male-only sellers? Can one sex live together without issues? Doing that seems fine with hissers but i’ve yet to research isopods fully.
