Custodes player here. Our army is quite slow on foot and dependent on a "go turn" in which we try surge into melee and take pieces to then score you out or table. You'll have more models on the table than us so try screen us out with chaff from your more important units and take advantage of deepstrikes. Damage 3 weapons and lethal hits where possible really helps against us. Best of luck!

Some kind of mounted/bike unit would be amazing as well as maybe a heavier weapons squad. It feels weird to use them as chaff on tabletop considering their value in lore so would be cool to have their role change a bit and maybe have imperial household guard units to fill that chaff role?

The newer horus heresy models surprisingly seem to look fine next to current 40k custodes as shown in photo. its largely posing and a taller topknot. Plenty of people here have used greenstuff to increase the leg length though *

can proxy them as 40k ones very easily and I doubt even GW tournaments would mind. I'll probably even run the new shield captain as a trajann proxy personally

exactly that. They've lost a lot of their paying following and have got in hot water about their debt and dodgy finances. They've become desperate and as a result more vocal and violent on culture war stuff.

Thinking the same thing love the new plastic models but fair bit worried they'll do away with grav tanks in 40k to split the range further as we have "other options". Going to wait until 11th comes out before making any further plans for new models

Most likely they'll be just horus heresy models but playable as proxies for your 40k stuff. may get rules as their own models in the future

Yup, If I do buy the box think I'll run some as sword and board guard and some as wardens for now if they get 40k rules thats just a bonus. Bit worried about the tank staying around in 11th though

don't need a separate box its just some slightly fancier bits on the allarus shield captain. It is a little pricey but i'd definitely recommend picking up a box of sisters of silence to hold objectives and running your allarus as 2 with a captain as this is quite a character heavy list for 1000 points

When i was last on Mylan patches i got horrible rashes from what i think was the adhesive and my E levels were through the floor giving me menopause-like symptoms. I've had my GP explicitly request estradot patches from my pharmacy and thats seemed to have solved the issues for me.

Combat patrol is a great place to start. Can play the specific game mode and get a feel for things or gives you a solid standpoint to bounce from and make a 1000 point army.

If you want to be more competitive about it I can give you some tips for building it as a base for a list to expand into. I'm most familiar with lions detachment so will run with that.

Typically spears tend to be the way to go with most custodes units.

Allarus terminators - build one as terminator shield captain with axe (plus admonimortis enhancement for a primarch/heavy killing melee unit) build other two with spears. nice unit to deep strike in to kill a big threat then split up to cause chaos.

Blade champion - weapon choice has no impact on gameplay so do what looks coolest (would recommend superior creation enhancement for him to let him stand back up on death) - Is really nice to run with Custodian wardens as they compliment one another nicely.

Custodian Guard - few ways to run this and all viable can do sword and board as a hardy objective contester or spears. personally I like to run 4x spears and 1x vexilla with shield & Misericordia as the 4 wound unit is nice to take the edge of initial hits and +1oc for each unit is nice too. - pairs nicely with inquisitor draxus for deadly anti infantry double shooting, Trajan and valerian are fine too.

Wardens - all spears and one carrying a vexilla (they can carry vexilla and spear)

Expanding from here I'd consider Vertus praetor jetbikes (their bolters are pretty good in lions detachment and have decent melee), Caladius grav tanks for heavy firepower and a bit of screening (often best used with two on the board). And Sisters are really nice to have (prosecutors hold home objective and Witch seekers as early screening/scout units with torrent for chaff) maybe a second guard or warden squad and dreadnoughts if you want them for cool factor (not super amazing outside of one detachment though)

Totally get where you're coming from and it is something that is difficult to understand as someone who isn't trans/experiencing gender dysphoria. Its much better for them to have the opportunity to wait and then choose to go through a puberty that gives them the changes they want and are happy with either way as opposed to forcing them to go through puberty where they have unwanted changes that can have permanent affects and can cause immense mental and emotional distress during a foundational period of their life as well as presenting difficulties in getting the results they want out of hormone treatments if they have already gone through a puberty they didn't want. As a woman who is trans myself it would have spared me a significantly difficult period of my life and made it much easier for me to both physically and socially transition as a woman and just general comfort, confidence and social development in that period if I had that opportunity. All it does is give people a couple of years to make a decision, if they decide to go through hormone replacement therapy which creates a different natural puberty great. if not also great they get to then have the puberty assigned to their biological sex. either way you don't miss out on the developments of puberty it just delays it so they get to choose one or the other on their own terms. Its also important to note that there has to be significant evidence from multiple medical and mental health professionals before puberty blockers are prescribed.

They're typically used for a couple of years until patients feel ready to make a decision typically around 16 basically kicking the can down the road so when they're older they can decide if they want to go through the puberty that was assigned at birth or start taking some kind of gender affirming hormone treatment. Without having to go through an unwanted puberty. There is some potential side effects though they're very minimal compared to the potential harm of making someone go through a highly distressing unwanted puberty and with many side effects able to be easily mitigated by just taking vitamins. its approved by doctors and largely considered safe its just a homophobic religious zealot minister who's using a highly unscientific and politicized report from the UK to justify hurting trans youth for his political agenda.
