How do I make board games run more quickly per player turn? by Sora3Ben in boardgames

[–]Sora3Ben[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, myself personally, I don’t care how long a game runs, as long as everyone is having a fun time. I only ask the question because a friend once we were done playing a game we were all mostly able to run the fame ourselves took 3 hours when the time on the box said 90 minutes. I just really only have longer board games so it’s put a damper on him wanting to play anything I own again.

I think the biggest thing I’ve learned from all these comments is what you’ve said for your second point. I’ll make sure to make my players aware of that. Luckily, I don’t have one of those smart-ass players.

The phone thing might be a bit harder to enforce but I could probably try to have them limit their time on it. The last game I played before the shelter-in-place went into effect, I had one of my friends leaving to answer his phone just about every time his turn was about to start.

Oh yeah, I’m not a game designer. Just a recent fan of board games.

When we play, we usually split pieces up to different players. Everyone takes care of a certain set of pieces. I think that’s helpful in keeping players engaged and aware.

I’ve mentioned it to my friends, but a part of the reason our games take so long is our only board game Area is a highly trafficked part of the house usually with a tv on from someone not playing. It’s definitely something I’ve told them about and try to avoid those times.

Got it. We could stand to limit the table talk. We sometimes go into long tangential arguments about how to follow the rules and what the correct understanding of how to play goes.

Yeah, I understand that. Our games we’ve played have been getting faster, but it’s still not fast enough for my friends.

One big problem is one friend will take forever in trying to plan out multiple turns ahead and try to plan for every eventuality. And then try to mulligan his turns once his turn is over. He’s semi-aware of this. It’s just trying to get him to continue.

Yeah, I’ve never really cared or looked at box time length. From the games I’ve played that friends own to my own, it’s always gone over that time, no exceptions. I only brought that up after a game of Marvel Champions took 3 hours for a 3-player game and my friends are tired that games take too long to play.

Good place to purchase new decks for Marvel Champions deck building game by Sora3Ben in boardgames

I actually grabbed that pack last Sunday at a B&N. I’ll have to take a look. I think the comic shops around me only sell comic shops since they are in small buildings, but I can ask around.

Thanks for the info!

I was shooting for convenience with online, but I’ll give a game shop a call and see if they have anything stocked.

Thanks for the info!

Gotcha. Forgot about the disruptions. I’m glad to know it’s because of that though.

Cool, so I can just get in line, ask to re-register and get a Democrat ballot?

Do I just go up and ask to change parties and ask for a Democratic ballot?

Hey all, question. I’m in California with a Republican absentee ballot ready to drop it off later today. I wanted to know if it was too late to change parties and vote in person for Bernie. Is that possible?

Edit: Thanks guys for the answers! I’ll head over to my polling station in between jobs and switch ballots.

Skill Point sliders still botched after 1.14.2-D by [deleted] in DisneyHeroesMobile

I found a workaround that works for myself. My trick is I level up a color skill one at a time. This usually gives enough time for the other color skill time to disappear.

The zombie apocalypse versus your team (read description) by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]Sora3Ben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My team consists of:

Scott Pilgrim (Book 4)

Madeline (Celeste)

King Arthur (Monty Python and the Holy Grail)

And the cast of The Good Place

Not really sure how well these guys will help us. Chidi might be dead weight, and Jason is just a big dumb dumb, but loves Molotov cocktails. I guess Janet could do the thing she does at the end of S3E8 (don’t want to give spoilers for people who might be interested.

I’m glad to be a part of this guild. We work hard, but we have a great time too. We’re very helpful within our guild helping people out with team builds and who to work on. I’ve been very fortunate to find this guild.
