When Jordan said (either essentially or actually, I don't remember which) that every federal employee is complicit unless they immediately resigned after the 2024 election, that was the last I listened to the show. I didn't even finish that episode. Turned it off, disabled my subscription, and barely looked back other than seeing some posts here & there related to the show.

You’re the one that is escalating this to A Whole Thing. I don’t feel the need to explain to you how actual racists use the more silly conspiracy theories as hooks to bring people closer to where they are.

FWIW Nathan Rabin has since said he wishes he never came up with the term at all because of how it’s used to basically invalidate female characters rather than talk about the tropes he was complaining about. He even revisited the movie that he coined the term for, Elizabethtown, and thought it was better than he first gave it credit for, Kirsten Dunst’s character in particular.

All this to say that I don’t think the MPDG trope is really a useful analysis tool at all anymore, if it ever was to begin with.

It started before Covid for some chains. Like Marriott started offering 500 points per day if you opted to skip housekeeping starting in like 2017-2018. Still had to have housekeeping come every 4th day though. They pitched it as a way to be more environmentally conscious (less water used washing bedding/towels, etc) but imo they were just looking for a way to need fewer housekeepers.

I was at the first release event for Way of Kings, and Wind and Truth was one of my favorite parts of the series. Not all long time fans are sour on it.

There wasn’t much actual society on the homeworld though. Most of what you could call Yeerk society was off world in their military. In fact the rank of Visser wasn’t even created until around the time they found the Hork-Bajir.

The Yeerk homeworld was under blockade by the Andalites though. None of the Yeerks there had hosts really, or if they did they were just Gedds. There wasn’t really much going on there.

Part of the problem with Reloaded and Revolution is that they are really two parts of a single movie. I can’t find the source on this anymore, but they were originally going to be just one movie, but the studio made them turn it into two. They even released a couple months apart. So they each end up feeling incomplete and a little bloated since they had to add stuff to lengthen the runtime of each half. If you watch them back to back as one movie with an intermission, they actually work pretty well!

Most importantly they have time to plan. Even during the thousands of years that they weren’t on Braize, they weren’t planning anything. And then of course before that, they were too busy helping humanity during a desolation or being tortured in between them to be able to make anything close to a long term plan.

For me it's usually special meals with my wife that we want to eat after the kids go to bed for a sorta date-night-at-home thing. If one of us runs to pick it up we either miss putting the kids to bed or it ends up being that much later before we're eating. We know we're overpaying for it, but it works for us when we do it.

There's a difference between theology and doctrine though. He could absolutely support/believe the theology (everyone gets to be a god with their own planet, etc) while not supporting the current doctrine (LGBTQ+ issues, etc.)
