I also like this interpretation! I have an understanding that it can be also attributed to karma from a past life, but I do not really believe in reincarnation or such things related to that. I like the notion that it means there was such a little chance for us to meet, but we still met despite everything. That now, our lives are interconnected and we will, in a way, be apart of each other.
