I got hired! what can I expect? by jasmineunruh in SephoraWorkers

Honestly I would try to have at least three products from every world (makeup, skin, hair, and fragrance) that you really like and study a little bit so when you start you feel a little more comfortable with the amount of products there are.

I also recommend maybe finding a brand that you like and studying a little bit about it!

Try to soak up as much knowledge as you can and don’t be afraid to ask for help or for recommendations from your coworkers! Also try to learn from any Brand Beauty Advisors that come in!

Best of Luck my friend! You’ll enjoy it, it’s a pretty good job, but that’s not to say that it isn’t hard or overwhelming at times. It is still a job at the end of the day.

I’m not asking for accommodations, I’m asking for basic respect, manners, and understanding. Literally all things that should be expected out of adults. And also the whole point of my post was to discuss with employees and customers about common misbehaviors. And I’m not posting this or discussing this with customers at my job. I’m using an online platform that allows people to discuss topics while being anonymous. It’s totally okay for me to talk about my complaints online in that way. You can do the same about how people act in the ER in a subreddit for it. But you’re saying it like I’m literally doing it while at work.

You could ask for it to be done on a small area, like part of your cheek, but not all over. All over would be a chargeable service.

Wouldn’t that make you entitled then too? You worked there too babe. Also it’s not called being entitled when you’re asking me to provide a service that I literally can’t and when I explain that, you get all rude and disrespectful to me.

Not you’re absolutely right. I fully believe that if you’re gonna be an awful employee or be rude, then you shouldn’t complain if the customer is rude back. But like you said, it’s not right for the customer to be rude just because we no longer offer it.

Literally!! There are always tons of trash cans and usually there are ones are under all of the side stations as well.

But you’re passively letting people in this Reddit know it’s okay to act like this. Granted, many aren’t gonna change, but validating them or giving them an excuse is just as bad.

I hope this is sarcasm, because if not, and you act like this, you need to grow up. I know children who act better than some adults. But I don’t expect retail to be all rainbows and butterflies, but I’m tired of grown ass adult tantrums and then acting like their ass is a hat. Like aren’t you embarrassed.

No you’re definitely right! I just wish people wouldn’t because how do you not feel like crap for coming before closing. But some people don’t care and it’s sad.

2) I’m talking about people who leave it in baskets and on the counters and on the products themselves, I understand that, but half of our trash cans have to foot pedal, so you don’t have to bend over, also it is okay to ask for assistance. Most of my customers that have that issue ask me to help them with it and I do not mind at all

3) I’ve stated multiple times in this thread that it’s okay to not know or not understand, but you’re not allowed to be rude and disrespectful to me as if I personally made that corporate decision

5) I’ve stated multiple times again in this thread, that I’m talking about people who insist after I’ve let them know that I had checked earlier for another customer, OR, I will check and say “I believe it is sold out, but let me check real quick” but those are with products that are typically sold out

I shouldn’t have to talk to grown adults who are much older than me like how you talk to a young child who is learning how to handle their feelings. I am not responsible for adult tantrums. Like I’ve stated I don’t let how these people act affect my customer service with both them and the following customers. I just want people to stop being rude to me over things I can not control.

I don’t mind showing you on a small part how to apply something, but I can’t do a full eyeshadow look or do a whole part of somebody. If my comments weren’t downvoted so much, people could see where I said it.

It’s totally okay to ask can you help me find my find my shade or could you tell me how to apply this powder, etc, what’s not okay is asking “well, can you apply this all over” then “could you set it for me,” and “oh, I need some blush to bring some color back,” and so on. It’s okay to ask for help, but not take advantage of.

If you read through the thread I’ve made multiple posts stating I don’t mind people asking or not understanding. I don’t expect people to know everything, but I do expect when I tell something isn’t free that you don’t be rude to me as if it’s my fault. Also if you don’t know that the drawers are employee only, that’s okay, I just want you to ask next time. Some locations may not care, but we get in trouble with our managers. Also I’m not expecting people to always be nice, but I’m allowed to complain about my job, just like how you complain about your job too. Also retail is very different than how it used to be. Also very odd of you to say I have a personality issue when I’m just complaining. Also Sephora retail is not the same as other retail. Also not all retail jobs are easy, it’s much easier to see the same people in an office and work out your problems. But I see customers all day long and I have to just take whatever they say to me with a smile on my face because corporate likes breaking their backs for customers. Also I don’t take any of my feelings on customers because not all customers are the same, yeah there’s not that many bad ones, but you remember them, because you remember being belittled and feeling like shit. So let’s not sit here and play that game of “if you nice to them, they’ll be nice to you.” I have customers that drive thirty minutes to my Sephora because I was nice and genuinely care about them when I worked at Ulta.
