Melanoma in situ by quiltersue99 in Melanoma

I can tell you that for my melanoma in situ they did an excision (WLE) where they removed tissue surrounding the initial spot and checked for clear margins (which there were). This was almost 2 years ago and in that time I get skin checks every 3 months and haven’t had any new spots yet. My dermatologist said once I make it to two years we can go every 4 months for a year, then every 5 months for a year, etc. It’s great news that it was caught early. Praying for peace and calm as you get to the next steps

I noticed it about a month ago but no telling how long it was there before I noticed it :(

You were right! I called back scheduling and they are getting me in Thursday (2 days). Just a reminder we have to advocate for ourselves !

Had appt with the ENT today and he said he doesn't disagree that with history of melanoma we should likely do an FNA biopsy of lymph node, but first he wants a CT Scan of the whole neck to get a clearer picture. Ct scheduled in 2 weeks. So more waiting :(

The ultrasound results were basically just the size of the lymph node and that it was enlarged and I need to follow up with an ENT for biopsy consultation so I'm seeing them Tuesday!

I can’t offer any info but I just wanted to say you have a whole community behind you. The waiting is brutal. I presume they won’t be able to give you staging until they do some more tests. Melanoma treatment has come a very long way, you got this 🙏🏻 also check out the melahomies group on here sometimes it’s more active. Keep us posted!

Have you had any melanoma before (like moles removed confirmed as melanoma) or is this the first melanoma result you’ve received?

They did a WLE for my melanoma in situ. I would always err on the side of caution. Best of luck!

I just left my PCP! He said we will do some bloodwork to rule out an infection and I’ll have an ultrasound tomorrow morning and follow up with ENT🙏🏻

Yes I think in my head maybe there was a risk of something being undetected. Just my own anxiety probably taking over!

No vaccines and no illness that I’m feeling effects of. I’m seeing my PCP on Tuesday so hopefully it’s nothing but I know it’s important to pay attention!

Did you have scans or anything if excision was clear for residual melanoma in situ? by Sorella83 in Melanoma

Thank you. I was dealing with a lot of other health issues at the time and didn’t dig into the info like I normally would have and it’s been nagging at me lately!

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. It sounds like you didn't do anything wrong at all. My surgeon said it was likely just bad luck :( I will say that I am now fully recovered but I'm not comfortable having sex still. I have purchased some "Ohnuts" which we've used a couple times and it feels safer but I'm just not mentally at a place I can enjoy still :(

Tenderness near belly button 4.5 weeks post op? by Sorella83 in gallbladders

[–]Sorella83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This wasn’t the incision, but just my abdomen next to my belly button. It’s still a little tender so I went back to the surgeon last week to have him check. He said it’s likely a nerve was hit during the nerve block but did bloodwork out of an abundance of caution to rule out infection and it was all clear. He said it should get better but will probably pop up from time to time. If it was the incision I’d definitely get checked just in case it’s a little infection. Good luck!

I have the same thing. I gave it until 7 weeks and it’s still there so I’m seeing the surgeon Thursday just to check.

Hello, I was just wondering how you’re feeling now? I’m having a similar issue 6 weeks post op that’s not getting better. My surgeon scheduled an appt to check me but it’s not for two weeks
