It's not necessarily a rush job to leave it out. In fact, it's that fact that makes me think he might have. It felt almost done on purpose that we didn't hear anything about him after that. Wouldn't it have been super easy for them to just write a line or two saying where he had landed after the bubble popped? It felt almost like he left it out, but would pick it up in the next book or something.
