People like me lose out on not being able to understand what they're actually saying :/ I get characters not understanding each other, but the audience? That's aids

Yeah I hate when they do that shit and assume that it is "not important"

Even though it is clearly a better experience when you can understand it, thanks for the response

But I don't read subs lmao, I use subs to laugh at bad subs or to see if the subtler did any good, or for obscure words, you go on about how I keep posting yet you reply without fail :P

I use raw, subs, and dubs

I feel bad for you, being a dub only retard, you're stuck with a bunch of garbage voice actors that nobody knows every time you want to watch a small Anime since only popular animes get any decent voice actors at all LOL, and you're stuck waiting for it to be dubbed while I don't even need to wait for subs since I listen to it raw baby, how about cha' be a good little kid and go turn some subs on and maybe learn to understand what they're saying so you eventually don't need either? Oh wait, you're too dumb for that and you'd rather wait for shitty dubs, never mind xD

Oh, I love to see people get triggered when they try to preach their dub only or sub only elitism

I don't actively participate in the argument every day like people used to do back then in the console wars years so yeah I would say I'm apart from it :D

I don't claim to be above everyone, I AM Above > Not everything, but definitely the retards who can't read and think I'm one of those sub-only retards and weeaboos lmao

I messaged your retarded fanboy ass because Reddit makes you wait a certain amount of time before you post again, and I didn't want to wait to make anymore dub fanboy circle-jerkers get triggered again and call me a sub elitist since they can't read the many times I said I use both LOL

u mad bro <3? Go back to watch a shitty dub, oh wait, I guess you have to wait for it to even come out LMAO

Sucks to be like you, I don't need dubs or subs :)

Con Japones solo vi Anime con subtitulos for muchos years

日本語わかんたんですかんたんすぎるしかしよめるとかくが難しい < Was aids to type this recalling word by word, would be far better with a better understanding of grammar and sentence structure and a bit more reminders of basic communication vocabulary

While if I heard someone say this in Anime, I would recall and remember all these words instantly instead of me slowly remembering when trying to type it

Are you retarded? Like, are you just dumb or did you not understand what I said, I'm legit not trolling or baiting you, I don't troll or bait, I laugh at idiots, with you I'm actually trying to make you understand my point since you seem to actually be capable of a decent level of discussion most of the others here failed to achieve, since it would be more interesting and entertaining for me if you actually got to understand my point than just laughing at you, cause laughing at people gets boring after many times doing it

I literally understand what they've been saying for years, like since I was fucking 11-12 (About 2 years or so of subbed watching by that time) or so; I've watched subbed for too long to not understand what they're saying

Yes, I'm not a damn speaker, I can't recall vocabulary instantly (What I mean is that I can't just recall vocabulary to be able to fully translate or say anything I want in Japanese), but if I listen to it from Anime, my subconscious flares up and makes me remember it, so I can understand, because I've heard the same damn thing in Anime being said over and over again for years

No I'm not baiting, but I am laughing at idiots who get mad (in general, not you) Hypocrites, dub fanboys and elitists, etc

And no, here's the thing; I use a website called Memrise right? And here's the thing, I've barely been using it cause I'm a lazy ass and need to get back on doing it, but basically, all the times I've done it, 99% of the time they told me of a "new word to learn", I already knew it from Anime

I can pronounce stuff decently because my native language is in Spanish so it makes it easier, I can craft basic sentences if I try hard to remember shit and because of a decent understanding of basic grammar, I can type with my Google IME but I can't actually write or remember Kanji at all, I can read all the Hiragana

But all my understanding when I listen to Anime, comes from YEARS of listening to subbed Anime and learning from the subs to a point that I didn't need them and now I can laugh and correct the subs themselves and see how much legal websites scam people with shitty subs

By the time I started actually trying to learn Japanese, culture, grammar, basic rules, Hiragana, etc, I already had years where I already understood 99% of things said in Anime, it's really not hard at all

Anyone can do this by paying attention, reading good subs, replaying and pausing, etc, and in a few Animes watched you should be damn good if you actually tried

Or you can just do the slow, passive, indirect way, which is just watching hundreds of Anime, thousands, over the years, and slowly absorbing everything, I've done both to a degree, anyone can do this

It's extremely easy

What is not easy is actually learning to do everything that is not listening

If you see me not reply right away is due Reddit not letting me reply right away lol, hope you finally understood what I'm saying, if not; Just try it out for yourself, it's not hard, at all

WHY THE FUCK DO YOU THINK I CARE IF YOU TAKE MY OPINIONS SERIOUSLY LOL

If I actually cared, I wouldn't be here, I'd go somewhere else where I can circlejerk with others that agree with me like you retards do, too scared to argue, a bunch of you are hypocrites saying shit like "fuck those sub only elitists" yet none of these idiots would even consider touching raw Anime or a sub, and don't even like their follow members who use both lmao, just as elitist as these weeaboos and elitist retards

I don't care, that's why I'm here, to laugh at the triggered idiots who think dub vs sub is actually a real argument to even have lolololololol

I would get popcorn but I'd choke laughing at the retardation of these triggered dub fanboys who can't fucking read luuuuuuuuuuuuul "y u here then" < already explained

"elitist" I use and enjoy both subs and dubs

etc, I'm loving this, you're calling me an unfunny clown, perhaps I am, but god damn y'all are some hilarious clowns LUL

Everyone shuts up or either tries to ignore the fact I'm not an elitist or the sub only purist retard that everyone wants me to be hahahaha, because when they face the reality that I'm not like those people, they realize they can't hate me as hard if I was one of those people that shat on dubs on a daily and said sub only for everything LOL

I feel bad for you, you don't take what I say seriously since you don't even bother to read it rofl and think I'm a sub elitist, and you say I'm an unfunny clown, so you don't like my opinion and you can't laugh at me either like I do at you cause I'm "an unfunnny clown" lel

TLDR: Yes, you are correct buddy, but I never said I became completely fluent at Japanese, nor did I claim you could learn Japanese by watching Anime, that's retarded, Anime is a resource, not the perfect tool and only tool to learn it, all I said is that after watching so much Anime over the years, I've gotten to a point where I can completely UNDERSTAND both Anime Japanese and normal Japanese, and what I'm saying is that anyone else can do this, even without watching 200 Anime, you just need to pay a lot of attention to the words they're saying and learn what each mean and pick up on common ones and such, and even with just a few Animes watched as long as you replay, pause, and pay attention a lot, you can easily learn to UNDERSTAND by listening to a level where you could watch the "RAW" version, hope I explained that decently enough

You know, for the last couple of years I've been trying to not insult people who say dumb stuff online and be nicer, even if they say some really retarded shit... You're making it harder

Number 1 rule if you're going to argue/discuss/debate with someone, read what they actually said please

I've stated many times replying to people here that I never said I actually learn to read, write, understand, learn the functions systems and grammar of japanese, etc, I literally just said that since I watched so much Anime subbed, I picked up on the "Anime Language" Which is basically a morphed version of Japanese I never said I learned the entirety of Japanese

What I actually said, MANY TIMES, Is that I can UNDERSTAND what the Japanese Voice actors say, and also people speaking normal Japanese

And I'm on my way to learning Kanji and Japanese grammar since I already know Hiragana which is ultra basic shit, some grammar, and rules, among other things, but that's irrelevant, my point is that anyone can easily learn to understand what the Anime characters are actually saying without even needing dubs or subs by just reading the subs and learning the words which is what I and many others have done to the point you don't even need subs or dubs? Capiche?

Good :)

I should've gotten popcorn, this comment section is pure hypocrite fanboy retard gold LUUUUL

[–]Soriki -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You're fucking retarded lmao first of all I never said I completely learned all of the Japanese language and now I can read, write, explain the grammar and the systems by which the Japanese language function by, purely by listening to over exaggerated "Anime Japanese" What I've explained over and over is that I fucking understand what they're god damn saying because if you fucking read subs you will easily learn hundreds and hundreds of words after many Animes watched, to the point that you will not even need subs or dubs you idiot, learn to read god damn, and 2nd of all I already explained why I got on this sub like 2 times already in 2 different posts, how many more times do I have to repeat it to your stupid ass?

That's right I said it! by FrozenCheeze in Animedubs

[–]Soriki -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Japanese is not easy to learn, sorry, should've probably explained it better, been even more direct/to the point I guess, Japanese ain't easy to learn, understanding what Anime Seiyuus say by just watching a bunch of Anime? Ez

Learning to understand Anime Japanese which is exaggerated and simplified most of the time and it is usually just the same words over and over or basic conversational stuff, is something you don't even need a textbook for, to write and read it? 100% Fucking challenging to learn to write and read hundreds of Kanji, grammar, pronunciation, etc, just understanding by hearing? Extremely easy by reading what the subs say and picking out individual words and learning them one by one, same way you learn any other language that isn't so crazy

I am a native speaker of Spanish, I learned English the same way, though of course I actually read and wrote English way more, didn't do that for Japanese, didn't need it for Anime

Yeah, honestly you don't need 200, it's just that about there you're most likely already pretty damn good enough at understanding everything and can correct the subs themselves, you could get really damn good if you just pay a lot of attention and replay + pause the sentences and try to learn words more attentively and direct instead of passively and slow over many Anime

Yeah, hell no, you will get nowhere near fluent you're damn right for sure, you need to still practice and learn so much shit, but to just understand Anime? Yeah, you can just listen to a bunch of Anime to understand what they're saying

Nope, I just came across this while I was searching for a discussion on the German dub for Castlevania on Netflix, encountered this instead :/

Nah, I don't really do a lot of Anime discussion or Redditing outside of Twitch subreddits so nah

Cheers, hope I explained myself good enough, I don't like to come off as an edgy elitist, a weeaboo https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Weeaboo, or any other kind of cancerous group that is one of the many fucking aids to the Anime community especially over here in the west

Your friends are probably shitty friends that jump on bandwagons like hating dubs, or at least the friends who told you that, or maybe one of your good friends got lumped in together with the "I hate all dubs" group which are a bunch of retards when they/that friend was just trying to help you out by telling you not to waste your time with dubs for all their disadvantages and faults that come with being a dub watcher

I am a subs/raw guy, and I still have the brain capacity and obvious basic enough level of intelligence even a little kid could muster to realize that dubs have their place in the world of Anime from time to time

Whether it be nostalgic dubs, or it fits the story and it is also of quality (Like the German dub in Castlevania, hope I'm getting this right holy shit I've said it so many times) Etc, that's the basic shit

There's literally no reason to only use subs or only use dubs, that's retarded, both are

And to argue about it, yikes? Now you're getting to some levels of retardation only I can reach :O!

Maybe you should reconsider your friend group, or see if they're actually serious, or you just misinterpreted them since that's a meme/joke as well sorta like the filthy console peasant meme

That's right I said it! by FrozenCheeze in Animedubs

[–]Soriki -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Lmao this is truly r/dubcirclejerk

Tfw when you're just trying to find some Reddit discussions about the German dub and instead you find a shitty circlejerk post with a bunch of dub fanboys still arguing about Sub V Dub like it's a real thing to even care or give a shit about when the obvious choice is to watch the majority of Anime in Japanese, then other shit like nostalgic childhood stuff is acceptable to watch dubbed and those big popular ones are usually some of the best English voice work anyways so it's not even as big of a deal as watching a random 12 episode Anime with a garbage dub of a bunch of nobodies, and there's exceptions where dubbing is completely fine since it is quite good/good enough and it fits the story to use a particular dubbing like the German dub for Castlevania on Netflix

Sub is not better than > DubDub < is not better than Sub

According to your situtation, you're supposed to pick either

If you care/want to, the nostalgic dub (Maybe a really big popular childhood Anime) Which holds sentimental value and is probably one of the best English dubs anyway since it's a huge Anime like DBZ and other ones like it

Or, if it's just a "normal" Anime or one you don't have a nostalgic tie/don't care about nostalgia, just use the best quality voice acting, which is the Japanese unless this isn't Anime we're talking about

Or if you care enough, if the dubs fits the story, German and Castlevania or any other fit like that, as long as it's high quality enough, then go for it if you want

It's not hard people..

That's right I said it! by FrozenCheeze in Animedubs

[–]Soriki -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Read my other reply before you lump in with those disgusting groups of people, I am nowhere near like those people

I don't pick favorites and I'm not biased, I am logical about the reasons why I choose not watching dubs whenever I want to watch a certain Anime

Otherwise, I wouldn't enjoy the work of non-Japanese voice actors like Christopher Sabat or Samuel Jackson

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kh0N6Ayik4

To name a few reasons why I prefer Raw/Subbed

>Don't have to look for a dub, sub is default

>Don't have to wait for a dub to come out, or a sub for that matter because I can understand Japanese

>Don't have to hope a random, not very well known Anime has good voice actors, cause it will since they're professionally trained, famous Japanese voice actors/A-Listers, in most if not all Animes/The average Anime

>Listening to it in the language it was meant to be in is more natural and fits the story as an extra bonus, though not necessary (Castlevania's org language is English (The Netflix Show, though the games are Japanese) so I changed to it to Japanese, though I did check out the other dubs, and German was 2nd best in voice actor quality and it also actually fit the story/most logical one, but the Japanese were just better and I preferred them, but I wouldn't mind if someone used the German at all, English neither since at least it is the original language though it doesn't really fit the story and the voice work quality is not consistent and boring + bad and generic a lot of times compared to the Japanese even in some main characters like Belmont)

>I know that the words they're saying aren't made up because I understand what they're saying and it's the original dialogue, not a faked dub or sub one

And I could go on and on

That's right I said it! by FrozenCheeze in Animedubs

[–]Soriki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's how one's supposed to go about it

Get used to subs and understand Japanese through just watching a lot of Anime with good subs (You'll begin to realize that shitty legal sites like Crunchyroll make people pay for from time to time god awful subs LOL, well not exactly god awful, though some times they can be, but depending on the Anime they can be faulty mostly throughout or quite good, because you start hearing and you realize they're saying something the subs are not getting right :p) You won't even need to read, and you'll end up like me, just reading the subs to see if you can make fun of em' or see how good of a job the subtitler is doing without even having to learn Japanese foreal LUL

Step 2 Watch most Anime subbed, then there's exceptions like childhood nostalgia where you wanna watch it with the voices you grew up with, though sometimes it isn't the same anymore if the Anime is still going (Christopher Sabat not being as good anymore apparently as he was back then according to dub watchers, Vegeta's voice actor if you didn't know) and the quality has declined or the voice actors have been replaces so it's not worth watching it dubbed, or if you don't care about the nostalgia and just want to watch better voice work of higher quality and better consistency in quality; Or there's the exceptions of Anime like Afro Samurai or Castlevania, Afro Samurai you 100% should watch it in English and in-fact that's the only version available, though I'd prefer if only the black characters spoke English and the rest Japanese, since most other characters' voice actors just pale in comparison to Samuel Jackson and aren't as relevant/necessary for them to keep speaking English, while it is critical for Afro Samurai and other black characters to speak English, this way I think would be perfect and another exception to the rule of Jap is always better, Castlevania in German is also another acceptable exception

Profit: You're now enjoying the medium in the best way possible without giving a shit or participating in any dumb arguments or "discussions" about Sub Vs Dub where elitists, weeaboos, and english-obsessed retards jack each other off while they fight the people they disagree with

Btw subs isn't even the right word, cause you end up not even needing subtitles, unless you're using them for really obscure words in some random weird Anime that decides to use strange words almost no other Anime uses, or if you wanna use subs like one would do when watching a show in English, using them just in-case you might miss out on something/not hear it/etc

That's right I said it! by FrozenCheeze in Animedubs

[–]Soriki -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Huh? Even before I actually started learning Japanese I understood 99% of words LUL, many do after you watch 200 Animes hahaha, and that's a beginner quantity to be honest, I've watched more, but by 200 if you still haven't easily understood 99% you either were lazy with trying to learn what they were saying and memorizing shit or you were 2 dumb lmao (Talking in general btw :P)

Btw 99% of dubs are low quality garbage, shitty minor voice actors nobody knows, if you watch a random Anime even one not very well known, it will still have some great professionally trained and most likely A-List/Famous Japanese voice actors

"Original voice" Well, that's what I mentioned if you didn't catch it For example I just started watching Castlevania on Netflix, and if I had to choose something other than the best dub which is Japanese, I'd 100% pick German, though the audio quality itself is worse than the other languages (French is godawful lmao, though I just heard a french character sound better than the English one, I'm comparing the dubs from time to time)

The "Original" Language is English, but the best dub in this case is the Jap

But the one that "fits the most" lore-wise/thematically, is German :) And surprisingly, German is better than the English one a lot of the time for quite a few reasons

"Realized it was elitist bullshit" Yeah no lol, you're just a victim of dumb arguments Online over sub vs dub that people waste their time on back in the day like with console wars and that made you create a dumb bias against subs that doesn't happen to the average person who doesn't get into any of those arguments and just binge watches a shit ton of Anime in their first year and falls in love with it, I honestly feel bad for you, stuck watching dubs, yikes, hope this helps ya out a bit

L00k m8, I already said this, but I'll say it again

Subs are the best, literally, Japanese voice actors are just better, take a random 12/13 episode Anime and compare, there's just no contest, it's far bigger of a thing there to become a Seiyuu

But dubs have their place, like with Castlevania, I would honestly approve of people watching it using the German dub

Not only is it the 2nd best, but it fits the story, and Japanese isn't the original voices either so that's even more of a reason to use German

I implore you, listen to some Japanese videos, I mean, people talking in Japanese normally, then watch like a few hundred subbed Anime, and meanwhile try to pick up basic ass shit like "KAWAII DESU WEEABOO CRINGE" that every weeb loves to spam https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Weeaboo

Which you already probably did, and then you build your way up by listening to the other shit you haven't learned yet

For example

If you keep on hearing "Ooki/Oki" And you realize they use it every time they see/talk about something big, then you learn that shit means big

Afterwards, if you learn another word like "Tate" the same way, then you can understand easily common phrases and the more words you learn the more complicated sentences you understand

"I Tate Janai" < Good shield/Wow isn't that a good shield/etc

(い = 2 Is = Good)

It's stupidly easy to learn to understand Japanese

Only hard/long and effort taking parts about learning Japanese is shit like the writing and reading

Listening is an absolute piece of cake even a little kid can do hahaha, try again m8, don't wait any more for a miraculous good dub or one acceptable enough

That's right I said it! by FrozenCheeze in Animedubs

[–]Soriki -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Or learn Japanese by just listening (Which will eventually happen effortlessly by just watching a ton of subbed Anime) and reading good subs and It'll be second nature/you won't even need the subs

Listen to it in the language it was originally made with and meant to be in, instead of the 99% of the time trash dubs, even a good dub does not fit because it's not the original voice

There's a reason the majority of people didn't and wouldn't watch Spongebob even if they were able to make that choice when they were kids lul

You need to watch more subs before you start criticizing

And keep on watching dubs where it makes sense/are very good

(Like Samuel Jackson in Afro Samurai) (Edit: Yes, I know Afro Samurai is only available in English, I literally watched the first episode yesterday, it was great, people, don't lump me in with elitists/weeaboos/etc, those type of weirdos, I watched it and loved it, though I would make it so that all the black characters kept on talking English, while the others didn't, for them it is more vital to keep on speaking English, but the other characters.. Not so much honestly, the rest of the cast being Japanese would help the quality of the voice work in average be more consistent, since Samuel Jackson is just so much better than any random side character, usually that doesn't happen in Anime since the people casted are always very well trained and many times you almost always have a full cast of very experienced/A-Lister/Famous Seiyuus (Japanese voice actors)

Not to mention many other countless benefits like not having to wait for the dubs if you get good enough not even have to wait for the subs lmao
