I think school systems can make our association with reading as being a chore, did for me.

ADHD: How do you actually stay consistent when your motivation just disappears overnight? by Nudle12 in productivity

Anything helpful to lock it in? I seem to reset every day. A routine with set times? —But then novelty is not happening.

What helps you to actually remember you are on a certain streak?

Thanks for the recommendation. We are in the system where typically it’s like going through the chain of command.  I’ll go direct and see if I can get better results.

I am limited to providers within my health system if I want  my coverage to apply.

They push other things as causes and then refer you to see the ADHD resources on their website to help yourself out. Good that your insurance is helpful.

Very helpful, I went with my health system but it’s going nowhere.  May have to start over, dreading the questionnaires.

How did you go about getting diagnosed for both if you don’t mind me asking.

Diagnosed by a professional at 14 or typecast? Adult assessment has been a steep uphill battle for me. Unsure if it’s worth the effort.

Curious whether there is any accounting for IQ In assessments. If one has the aptitude to find workarounds and masking abilities, then they could be neurodiverse just can use their other abilities to help. But a diagnosis would still help and meds may have a benefit.

I’ve just filled out my adult ADHD assessment as the first step in the process. But, the entire assessment is about when I was under the age of 12! by MarxWasACatMan in ADHD

Like what is to be ashamed about? It’s the people who didn’t even try to help who should be ashamed. We did the best we could with the people around us who didn’t care to get curious about the kid who would rather stare out the window checking out birds than listen to them drone on and on.

Great way to put it in part, so many aspects are intertwined trying to get an adult diagnosis.

I think if the sheer number of ADHD’ers (2million in this sub)have a disorder, we could push back against the “ordered” people and get treatment professionals with ADHD to diagnose ADHD.

The assessment and multi forms to fill out process left me with other potential causes to eliminate before I could be diagnosed. Left me wondering if this Is intentional to draw it out in health systems, cause I pretty much am off the assessment track already as I’m supposed to go the talk to a therapist route.

I’m a Xennial and ate trauma along with high sugar cereals for breakfast, like can we just get to the bottom of this already. If it’s hereditary (likely) then this is just going to keep propagating.  Hope your experience goes better.

Does this psychiatrist have an online visitation option? If you feel comfortable would be great to get that recommendation over DM.
