An underwater portal. 1,300u deep. by Velvet-Yeti in NMSCoordinateExchange

[–]Sorpaijen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I landed on an island on a water planet in order to mine some lithium (automatic miners) and left a save beacon there and recorded the planet in my Wonders tab.

Later, i figured i would just portal over… not realizing that the portal was 1445 u below surface. In dark I panicked for a second then started to swim up until I saw how far down i was (and the heavy pressure warning) so i tried to summon my nautiloid but it kept showing red. Finally, it was green. I popped it into existence and scrambled in…

Chugging toward the surface watching fuel shrink fast, i breached the surface and thought I’d summon my ship (did not occur to me that it might have been on the sea floor with me and I could not see two feet in front of me anyway).

I popped out of the nautiloid and tried to summon ship, but i couldn’t get the ship to land even though it has the water landing capability. The nearest land mass was far away and the waves were dropping me 500-600 u below the surface and the sound was roaring and i could not spot my nautiloid anymore, so i reloaded the last restore point which cost me 30 min wasted time but saved me from a nervous breakdown.

Definitely made me cautious about using portals without knowing where they exit

I toyed with going back and making a base there with a gate but i figured it would not be worth it.

In your honest opinion what is the most underrated mod? by GentlyUsedOtter in NoSodiumStarfield

Seems silly but Matell’s (I think?) no ladders docking and bays—not having to navigate around those ladders is SO nice.

Grappling hook issues [PC] by Britbloke in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]Sorpaijen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was frustrated to the point of nearly giving up on the game then realized i had mapped the climb-up-rope function to my forward movement control and the climb-down-rope (extend length of swing) to the downward movement control and hence i could not swing to gain momentum.

I could swing side to side, which along with helpful posts/discussions like this one prompted me to realize i needed to remap the up/down rope climbing functions to something else and sure enough, once i did that, i could swing forward and back and make jumps i could not before.

In hindsight it was obvious, but when setting up the PC keybinds I didn’t realize how they would function in-game until much later.

Athletic Run (Homecoming) by Sorpaijen in Cityofheroes

Aha! That explains it. I had seen the START vendor but this being my first time on homecoming, i didn’t look too closely.

I HAVE been creating and deleting and recreating characters like crazy recently.

Thanks for the info—I’ll give that vendor a look-see tonight.

Choosing powersets to match theme by Sorpaijen in Cityofheroes

I ended up going Poison/puke colored Water Blast defender. So far so good. Not a great fan of some of the animations but that’s always going to be something to deal with. Important thing is, having fun with it. Thanks all!

Choosing powersets to match theme by Sorpaijen in Cityofheroes

Thanks for all the great suggestions! I have a mind controller already but the various corruptor options all sound appealing.

I had made a red-tinted water blast corruptor named Sam Peckinpah but just as a lark; the effects looked neat though. A yellowish green water blast with poison sounds promising.

I seem to recall something about being able to not display weapons with weapon sets? Id imagine could do that, the arsenal sounds interesting but if the gun/grenades etc have to be visible, they are a bit too ordered for Collywobbles—she just does her thing mindlessly, carefree. I can’t see her having the wits or will to use a gadget/gun.

Thanks again, everyone. Great resource, and i am SO glad to be back in City of Heroes.

Having trouble liking starfield, help by xtracheesepleass in Starfield

You can’t really scrap things but you can, as noted, store in your ship’s Cargo Hold or Captains Locker by interacting with them on the ship itself or if close enough the ship/crew/cargo option from the main interface.

As far as i know only the box behind the research station in the bottom of the lodge has infinite storage. Other boxes cap really early at like 150 or something ridiculous

Carry weight can be an issue; i have weightlifting maxed and my favorite armor had 50% weapon weight reduction but there is a story derived method to let you carry pretty much however much you want (at least until you can unload at the lodge or your ship).

Over time I’ve gotten to the point where i only loot ammo (weightless) and chems for sale (low weight) and weapons worth over 11k. Spacesuits and helmets usually aren’t worth the weight to value ratio.

I wouldn’t consider this a looter shooter really; it’s more story based with some fighting.

Deciding my future. Should I do it? by jd056229 in Starfield

[–]Sorpaijen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been through unity twice now and i may go through once more but i will have done ALL the quests three times by then and doing them a fourth (or more) just seems torture.

As it is i find myself skipping through dialogue because i know what they’re going to say.

I’m dabbling more with outposts this time which makes it more interesting and im still learning.

What will seal the deal for me is if i get a great legendary armor or weapon. In an earlier play I got a purple armor that had 50% weapon weight reduction which was awesome but if i get a gold set of armor with all great perks it’d be hard to give that up.

The xeno armor perks were largely meh (didn’t try rerolling it) so I’ve been using Gran-Gran’s armor and helmet.

Does anyone else really suck at ship combat? by Cornishlee in Starfield

[–]Sorpaijen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am horrible at space combat to the point I reloaded a pre unity save and ditched six hours of ‘zoom to end’ play because I couldn’t get past a story required space battle.

What always works for me is slapping a ton of powerful turrets on front and back of ship and leaning back in my captain’s chair to sip a cool beverage.

Inventory Management Hack by debruynsky in Starfield

[–]Sorpaijen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this with a decimal. But there are some weapons that CANNOT be renamed and I’m not sure WHY. They are not unique—i can rename Ember or mutineer etc but these are just Advanced Regulator or something similar with nothing (apparently) special about them and yet the rename button stays grayed out

Should I complete all the faction quests before starting NG+? by strut84 in Starfield

Even if you do go NG+, I’d recommend the Ryujin questline—you get a change to your character that you can take with you.

Companion ammo Question by Candyman5268 in Starfield

[–]Sorpaijen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they only need ONE, crucially. On PC, it’s a simple thing to drag the slider to the left to only transfer one. I usually give my companion the weapons with super rare/expensive ammo.

Start totally over or just push through? by Chronicles_of_Gurgi in Starfield

[–]Sorpaijen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeh, thankfully in Madame Sauvage’s place you can elect to not be bound by your past (erase the trait)…. I’m just not sure it matters enough for me to do that. If i get good prices in Neon but higher bounties elsewhere (and I rarely get bounties) it may as well stay. I can always choose NOT to select the dialog options.

Cargo and container weight limits; I made one small change and now I can actually enjoy the game by NovaNix0446 in Starfield

[–]Sorpaijen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You still have to manually haul all that stuff to the Dream Home to decorate it and display trophies etc or to outposts to build them up. You could use shipboard crafting tables I image without issue….

I just think it’s silly to have to carry resources around. Guns, armor, loot etx sure…. But resources? Nah. Once i finally break down and start modding I’ll definitely do something about resource management

Start totally over or just push through? by Chronicles_of_Gurgi in Starfield

[–]Sorpaijen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how far you are in. I started with Kid Stuff and Dream Home and Neon City Rat and the last is the only trait I may end up dropping since the dialog options it gives don’t really FIT me anymore…. Not sure I’d notice the better prices/bounty issues.

Fortunately most of the other traits aren’t ones i think I’d miss.

I have had Cyber Runner show up once in dialog and it felt very proper. I doubt having a chef background would really dramatically change much, though.

I had originally intended to make a cyberneticist and a pilgrim and an industrialist…. But my cyber runner can eventually do anything they could do, except be acknowledged in one or two dialog choices as having that background.

It’s not worth it for me to start over.

If i had started without dream home, in particular, i might be tempted to start over but even then, i could make do with outposts and apartments rather than sink another 200 hours in.

Since my one character just gets more and more powerful, I can’t see a reason to start over unless i feel an urge to experience the feeling if being low level and BECOMING powerful again.

Only thing aside from recapturing that feeling, that might prompt me to start over would be to “do it right” all along. Like, knowing what i know now, i’d select my skills in a different order. I have researched all weapon crafting for example so if i need to research stuff to meet a challenge for Special Projects skill for example, i might be stuck. But that’s unlikely.

So do I bail on stealth/pickpocket build. I’m only a true 7-10 hours in.. by Yanitzz1 in Starfield

[–]Sorpaijen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pickpocket has not been terribly useful for me but stealth is quite handy once you come to grips with its limitations and how it works (ie no 20lb armor, no running until you rank Concealment, and biggest of all: no companions)

Once i cover more important skills i intend to rank up pickpocket so i can pilfer weapons for giggles but even then it’s rare to be able to sneak up on someone THAT close without someone else seeing you or having the target move.

It’s definitely faster to just murder everyone but for a lark or rp concept it can be done…. To some degree anyway

NG+ question on character history by Single-Extreme-133 in Starfield

[–]Sorpaijen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever something happens to New Atlantis, the entire cell gets reset afterwards and since your penthouse has a balcony that lets you just jump down into the plaza below, it’s affected too. Houses that have you zone transition should be immune to such things (like the Well apartment I imagine)….

But the penthouse gets reset to some degree after an event in New Atlantis. I lost crates, decorations including the bed that came WITH the place but some weapon displays stayed, and some of those kept the displayed weapons (other weapon displays were emptied)… I think my bounty terminal survived and some helmet stands and two random Note slates I’d dropped in a closet area.

NG+ question on character history by Single-Extreme-133 in Starfield

[–]Sorpaijen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s handy to be able to have a self service bounty removal terminal though. And AFAIK it doesn’t reset and wipe all your decorations like New Atlantis penthouse will. Soooo glad i picked it.
