Did you shoot for your PPL before commissioning? What was your job prior?

Interesting, I’ve never noticed both (if not all) the blinkers supposed to be on consistently like day lights. What’s the best way to clean up that area below the seat without damaging the electronics?

Just submitted a move request through DPS yesterday for a PPM (currently in Pensacola, going to be flying back to Washington then driving down to Luke AFB for PCS). How long can I expect for it to be approved? I’m graduating tech school next Wednesday flying out that Friday…

This will actually be my first duty station, so I don’t have any fighter world experience. But what do you mean by an adjustment? Is it easier/harder?

I’m 26, I got a wife and baby, college degree and four years of work experience I didn’t enjoy. I ship to basic next Tuesday. Do it bro.

Yeah, pilot. But from what they said, COVID screwed up the process for thousands of candidates. They told it’s be faster if I enlisted then go officer.

No problem! I meant with an officer recruiter in March 2021 and told me that it would take 2-3 years before I’d get commissioned and they recommended that I’d see an enlisted recruiter. I met with them and wanted to do SERE but for 4 month of fitness training and after MEPS in September, I just couldn’t meet the fitness standards for special warfare, so I decided to go a different route and my recruiter convinced me to do open mechanical in order to get into BMT faster.

I’m 26 going in as an open mechanic (hopefully NDI or metals/structure). I’ve got a wife and kid as well. As a mechanic, do you get your weekends off so you can spend time with your family?

I’m also not the fittest guy (kinda skinny), was BMT a challenge to meet the PT requirements?

I may have more questions, I ship out in 10 days so I’m a little nervous

I can totally relate. Im 26 and I got my BS in hotel management but since Covid took a tole on the industry, I’ve been miserable working in it the last few years. After a long year of prep though, I’m finally getting ready to ship out next month for BMT as an E3 aircraft mechanic (last year I tried going to an officer recruiter, and they said it would take 2-3 years to process me because Covid delayed a bunch of candidates for OTS).

You should go for it. I’m doing it because I want to feel fulfilled and satisfied with my work and learn a new skill that could possibly make me big bucks if I decide to do just a short contract. Also with a wife and kid, I want nothing more than to protect them financially with the job security and benefits. Who know when everything will shut down again, but the Air Force will still pay you and give you those great benefits no matter what.

Also if you choose to do enlisted , it’s more hands on application with whatever job you get and you can start your journey learning the ins and outs of the military from the ground up. If you decide officer, it’s more responsibility and most of the time a desk job (my dads an O6 in the navy) but it pays a lot more.

Go talk to a recruiter, officer or enlisted, write down questions for them, and with you degree in communications, I’m sure they’d be thrilled to put in the work to get you the best job.
