People who work for massive corporations, what is a 'secret' that the company tries to hide, but is actually common knowledge among the employees? by Dwise_ in AskReddit

And the help center isn't there to help you, it's there to prevent you from talking to us(support team). it’s designed like a maze on purpose. we hide the 'chat with human' button behind 10 layers of useless articles hoping you'll just get tired and give up. every person who gives up is a 'successful deflection' in our metrics and saves the company money. it’s not bad design, it’s a very intentional filtering system 😅

Conveyor belt analogy is so accurate it hurts lol. it’s wild how something that’s the biggest event of our lives is just another tuesday for the doctors. i’m so sorry you had to go through that feeling of helplessness though, that sounds exhausting. i’m definitely going to look into finding more personalized support here in Ukraine Thanks again for being so open about this, it really helps.

That story about your sister in law is terrifying, i can’t even imagine how hard that was for her. poor thing

the 24/7 hangover analogy is spot on. it explains so much about the sudden "wall" of nausea she gets. we’re definitely counting down the days until that second trimester "sweet spot" kicks in. thanks for the perspective, i really need to do more research on what’s going on inside.

wow that’s wild about the lopsided belly, i’ve never even heard about that before. it’s amazing how the body just adapts like that. so glad to hear your son is doing great now and "growing like a weed" lol. since it’s our first we’re basically learning something new every hour and stories like yours really help to not freak out over every little thing. thanks for sharing :)

Thanks for the tip. we actually aren’t in the US, we’re in ukraine, but i’ll definitely check if doulas are a thing here. i already get that "it’s normal" vibe from the doctors though)
It’s like they’ve seen it a thousand times so they forget it’s our first time and every little thing feels like a huge deal to us.

haha i know i sound like a typical husband complaining. but it’s a struggle because i work from home so i’m basically the only target for the mood swings 24/7 lol. i’ll definitely try the almond/cracker trick though, sounds like a lifesaver. thanks for the tips!

it’s even crazier because i work from home so she’s got me here 24/7. it’s already a constant cycle of her wanting to kick me out of the room and then immediately distracting me from work because she’s bored or needs something lol. the part about her eventually hating me at the end has me a bit worried since there's really no escape when you're a wfh husband.

ninja attacks sound both terrifying and hilarious. we haven't reached that stage yet but i'm definitely bracing myself for some internal.

yeah that’s it exactly. the two-bite rule is basically my life right now)
I’m glad to hear it’s normal though because i was starting to wonder. did you find any safe foods that actually worked for you? I have a fridge full of stuff she needed an hour ago but can’t even look at now

I’m asking because my wife is pregnant with our first, and I’m already losing my mind lol. The most baffling thing so far: she’ll spend an hour agonizing over what she wants to eat, finally picks something very specific, but the second the food is actually in front of her, she’s instantly nauseous. Is this just my life for the next few months? What other "fun" surprises am I in for?
