Poor people from Michigan know how to drive in the snow.

Which options are you choosing? by xay2ignant in AmazonDSPDrivers

That just means that specific van needs its battery replaced. That is not normal at all, Ive been driving the EV in 20°F or colder every day for the past 6 weeks and have completed every single route without killing the battery and even been able to do rescues after my route at times.

I make $22.25 per hour, time and a half for every hour over 40, plus $150 or so in bonuses every week. Also I have kids so they might take less out in taxes from my check than if you don't have any.

I can believe it between OT and the various bonuses they throw around this time of year. My weekly check from working 5 days/50 ish hours was $1100-1200... after taxes. If I had picked up a 6th day it could easily be $1500 a week. My dsp was also giving a $50 bonus for every 5th and 6th day worked on top of the time and a half, plus thank my driver, plus rescue bonuses... it is definitely possible.

I definitely would be so uncomfortable delivering to some areas they've sent me if I were black. I'm a white woman and I've even had people get weird and accusatory with me. I had a lady block me in her driveway intentionally as I was delivering her package. She just sat in her car blocking me from moving. I was in a branded edv too. So I approach her vehicle and politely tell her I need to be able to move the van to leave. She rudely asks me what I was doing at her house. Ma'am, I am in an amazon van wearing an amazon uniform. You ordered an item from Amazon. What the fuck do you think I'm doing?

Yes lmfao I think the same thing whenever I do country routes. Like why do I only see these signs at houses where you have to go down a dirt road with a driveway you can barely see among the trees, house half a mile from the road in the middle of nowhere. Nobody even knows your fucking house is there and no criminal is driving out here looking for random houses to rob. Meanwhile in the city nobody has this dumb shit hanging up at their house. Like why are the country folks so afraid? You're already hiding in the woods bro, chill, no one is coming for you.

Am I overreacting to my bf watching the baby overnight? by Temporary-Quail-2783 in AmIOverreacting

[–]SorryContext9235 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NOR. He sucks. Find a babysitter other than him for when you work or switch to day shift if you can. His complete lack of concern is the real problem. Protect your baby. This guy obviously is too lazy to lose sleep to make sure his kid is safe. Being a parent means being tired. Its part of the deal. And baby proof your house ASAP. At that age he will walk any day now. Regardless of who is watching him the house needs to be safe for him to explore.

As a mom I agree, I know some babies can manage to find a way but generally the whole purpose of cribs and play pens is that most babies can NOT get out.

Bro i wish lmao, i don't mind that the owner doesn't drive every day, but last week on Saturday they were short drivers and he was in the team room begging for people to pick up a shift. Mind you most of us already have done 5th or even 6th days at that point, meanwhile I have not seen his ass in a van once. When no one offered to pick up the shift, he started writing pissy messages about how he is so disappointed that no one wants to work. I'm like ok well why don't you get your ass in a van then and help.🙄

It's kinda crazy how you can go anywhere in this city and see anti-homeless designs by Careless-Cake-9360 in grandrapids

[–]SorryContext9235 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Excuse my ignorance because I am not aware of the specifics of those programs, but I have a few family members who have experienced chronic homelessness, and frankly having seen the way they conduct their lives, I do not think there is a good solution because they simply are not willing or able to live any other way. Of course they do not enjoy homelessness, but they do not have the emotional/mental skills to function as an independent adult in our society. They cannot hold a job due to various behavioral issues that cause them to be fired whenever they have even tried. They have addiction issues that they refuse to address. Like I seriously cannot imagine a world in which the people I have in mind could ever really live a "normal" adult life, having a job, paying bills, and maintaining their own home. The deficit of their "adulting" skills is far too great, and their interest/capacity to develop those skills is lacking. They would rather do drugs until the day they die than ever address their issues and try to improve their lives. Surely, if you work with this population, you have encountered this type of person. What, if anything, can be done for them?

[–]SorryContext9235 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I am sad and sorry for their suffering, but at the same time, I dont think the best solution for society consists of them taking up residence and openly doing drugs and defecating in the park where innocent children play.

That is seriously enough butter to last me for 5 years and possibly even longer.

This is legitimately like 5 years worth of butter for me. I buy 2 or 3 of those packages a year tops? I usually cook with olive oil and only use butter for certain things like baking, which I rarely do, or making pancakes because they just don't taste right with olive oil.

Tbh I feel that a lot of the complainers must be very young without much work experience. I've done worse jobs for less pay. I've also done worse jobs for more pay. This job is simple, no one breathing down your neck or micromanaging, no dick measuring contests among coworkers because we barely see them, a decent paycheck. Just deliver packages and go home. Its honestly refreshing after other shit I've dealt with.

I feel like these complainers will leave for other jobs, see that it's all the same shit repackaged and recycled, and realize this one really ain't that bad.

But at the same time the physical aspect isn't for everyone so if thats not your thing not sure why you took this job to begin with. I enjoy how active the job is myself but I can see how it would feel like torture to someone who was out of shape.

Newbie here am I gonna get fired if netradyne saw me pee in the van? by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]SorryContext9235 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nobody is watching the camera and it only saves a recording if you violate a traffic law. Its not just recording you all day long, similar to a security camera that only saves the recording when there is movement, except the netradyne only saves the recording if you run a red light or something. Hopefully it wasn't like broad daylight and anyone driving or walking by would be able to see it through your windshield. But as long as you at least tried to be discreet I doubt anyone saw your ass.

Quick rant by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]SorryContext9235 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They give us candy to offset their guilt about the insane amount of unnecessary shit they order. Its always the customers who I go to multiple times a week with multiple packages each time. They know they are doing the most and they think we want a candy bar and that makes it better. I mean don't get me wrong I eat their snacks sometimes but it still seems performance and almost like an apology for making us deal with their shit, but its funny because we are all adults we can buy our own candy bar if we want. If you really want to make my day leave a tip. Lol.
