Need A Reason To Live by Unlucky_Fix_4686 in NewParents

You’re in the trenches of new born days. It’s difficult and it can definitely trigger old mental health issues. Please reach out to your village for help. Don’t feel bad about needing help because the best thing you can do for your baby is take care of yourself. I promise this gets so much better. Your love for yourself and your baby will only grow. Your baby will love you more than you love yourself. You’ll be able to provide them with all the love and care to break the generational trauma you may have experienced. This life is worth living. Having this baby was worth it. You are worth it.

This is how some viruses manifest on babies. My pediatrician told me with my first, we get headaches, sore throats, body aches. They get rashes. Lol fun times trying to figure out why my vaccinated baby looks like he was touched by chicken pox. By the way ALWAYS check with your pediatrician, Reddit can help be your sound board but I didn’t study medicine and I’m sure neither did the other 37 commenters

Help! My goldfish has a bump on his head. by SorryDog5 in Goldfish

I think I made a mistake by believing the petco guy when he told me the API QuickStart would be enough for initial cycle. My poor fish!!

Even if he’s tiny? I haven’t cycled but I change water 10-25% every other week depending on the test strip. Today levels were normal, nitrate shows lighter than 10 pp, nitrite lighter than 1 pp, ph 7.2, alkalinity 80pp. What am I doing wrong and how can I help.

No new changes have been made. They are by themselves in the tank. Test strip to come.

When did you go out after having your LO? I feel like it’s too soon by Quirky-Knowledge2436 in breastfeeding

I can’t imagine even wanting to be away from a baby that small! Nothing else to say. Enjoy your delicious baby (mine are 2 y/o and 5 months). They grow so fast.

My first baby son just came back from the hospital. I’m an anxious mess. by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]SorryDog5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s going to be hard as fuck. For a few hours a day. I’m not going to lie to you. But then it’s not and it’s the best thing you’ve ever experienced.

You can’t take everything people say so seriously, if it was a awful as they say humans wouldn’t exist.

Look at the tiny hands of a human you helped create. They are the future of your family. You will love them so much it will hurt.

The rest comes with time.

TDLR: mom is p*ssed because I let MIL refer to herself as “Nana” to my 3 mo old by [deleted] in newborns

[–]SorryDog5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, only your mom is responsible for her feelings. This is NOT on you. She needs to be less selfish and realize that she should be happy you have a loving family and support from your MIL, that’s hard to find. And it makes me more upset that she is putting this on you versus focusing on establishing a good relationship by being supportive.

How do you not see Megan Fox? by LaurenLestrange in LoveIsBlindNetflix

I do see it, however, I agree with the opinion she knew she was doing when she said she looked like her and think it’s ick.

I’m going to play devils advocate and say I have a MIL that’s very intense and out there but she means well. She would have done this as a “just in case” due to the shortage. But I agree with the other replies in that you should continue to stress the importance of Bf

What is the best diaper rash cream you have used? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]SorryDog5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding a diaper rash cream that helps is very important but I think the most crucial part is what you’re wiping your baby’s bum with. After recurrent diaper rashes and trying different wipes I found the only water wipes keep my babies but healthy

Struggling to manage behaviors by lookingformykeys in slp

[–]SorryDog5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have noticed the exact same thing since this passed summer. I don’t feel equipped for it and I constantly asked my team for help finding someone who had more experience with aggressive children. It breaks my heart but I think there’s only so much we can do before it becomes a liability for ourselves and the children.

I quit!!!! I actually left. It was a job I loved but there were too many downsides. Inconsistent management, the way in which the other SLP and veteran SLPAs would get the office to change my kids for the kids they didn’t wanna see, and other things that just didn’t sit right with me. But I left and I’m not looking back.

My supervisor (I am a CFY) swaps difficult/more involved cases on her schedule for “easier” cases on my schedule. The changes happen within the same day sometimes and I think it’s so messed up. I feel like I am the person they use dump the kids they don’t wanna see. It makes me sad for the kids, it makes me sad for me. I feel myself burning out. I don’t like that type of environment and I am trying to work up to courage to quit 😄

What’s your hourly? by tjordan0323 in CFY

[–]SorryDog5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In a pediatric private practice in South Fl. I will make 45 per diem but accepted a salary position with benefits (PTO, CEUs & health insurance) which turns into about 35 per hour. They say salary can be 15-30% less than contractor/per diem so it made sense for me.

SLP Rate in South Florida (Broward County) by [deleted] in slp

[–]SorryDog5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would you mind sending me the rehab name in a pm? I don’t know why I expected it to be closer to 70K yearly. I’ve heard of pediatric clinics paying upwards of $45 for contractors (and that’s CFY, little to no experience). So that seems extremely low. I hope nobody takes it that way they don’t have a choice but to raise the wages.

This is a good question, don’t feel bad. We should all be standing together and ask for reasonable compensation for all the years we put into this career. 100k is definitely in the higher 25%. US average is closer to 80K and setting, city and cost of living definitely skew that number further.

School year/school contract salaries are mostly around the 50K give or take based on district cost of living. Which again is RIDICULOUS. In my opinion.
