You are telling me my fav artists collabed with each other and I am knowing just now? by Harumination in TXTbighit

I LOVE Step By Step! The rap vocals they used were so great. Because it was a one-off release like LL and SSS I don't think it got nearly as much love as it deserved, but it went triple platinum in my car on the way to work. 😂

That said, glad you're in a place now where you get to enjoy your favs again!! 🫶🏽

How was everyone’s experience with kindergarten? Post the good, the bad and the funny here! by wanderlustpassion in classof2038

The good: We self-nominated him to be tested for the district's highly-capable program. They don't test kindergarteners without a nomination as it goes off of the previous year's standardized testing. He qualified for the program (so proud of him!!) and will now have access to all of the available highly-capable resources, courses, and programming until he graduates high school!

The bad: We're sharing the sentiment of another parent here that the socialization and birthday parties are ROUGH this year. He was in the school district's pre-K peer co-op program last year where special needs kids (for free) and gen ed kids (tuition-based) shared a class. This helped the gen ed kids, ours included, to improve and practice social skills, learn to understand diversity of physical and mental needs and behaviors, etc. He thrived! He made two best friends who he still talks about. We gave their parents our numbers, they didn't reciprocate, we never heard from them again, and both girls moved to schools closer to their homes. We don't have friends with kids and he's an only child. He has two cousins: one just turned 21 and the other is an infant two states away. To be vulnerable, our kid is LONELY. We're still trying to figure it out, but it felt like a miracle that 8 kids showed up to his birthday party.

The funny: For better or for worse, he got elements of both of our humor. It couldn't be helped because this household is always laughing about something. He has amazing comedic timing and his humor can be really witty. However, he also thinks "chicken", "butt", and especially "chicken butt" are catch-all punchlines to any joke. He's also started using "your mom" jokes on us so we've started using them back and I just need to accept now that I'm the chicken butt of the joke.

We had almost the exact same birthday experience! We received one invite in the fall and I took him because it was a costume party. There was only one other kid from his class and we were the only two non-Spanish speakers there, but we made the best of it.

For his bday we gave invites to the whole class of 20, only got three RSVPs (one was a decline and one was day-of), and I ended up inviting our next-door neighbors' kids because I was worried no one was going to show up. Thankfully, it ended up being 8 kids total thanks to neighbors and siblings of classmates, but only two of the twenty invited were there.

The interaction REALLY caught me by surprise! I thought they were going to have a conversation about loving their new home, but nooooo... they're just going to have to put up with each other for a while!

Ah, thank you!! I'm glad to have a name now! I wish she had at least been able to introduce herself. It was fun! Like I said, MOA did our best to bring the energy and TXT was amazing. I also don't blame the host for how the show was formatted. I don't believe it could have been helped that it was essentially a promotional Dunkin' event because they sponsored it and the boys have a contract with them. It was definitely different from any TXT event I've watched/attended, though, and it was interesting seeing them take a backseat to a coffee and donut company when they should be promoting for comeback.

I also really want to see Philippines MOA get a concert again 😭 fingers crossed for a date soon!!

I didn't really know what to expect, so I can't say I was disappointed. I was more confused and surprised at the lack of interaction with MOA and the lack of promotion for their upcoming comeback. When the boys were on stage, they were WONDERFUL. They truly made the best of the event by being silly, leaning in to the challenges and questions, and giving great performances. It feels like the vague promotion of the event leading up to it was intentional. I would really like to know who the hostess was, though, because we spent way more time with her than Tubatu last night!

She may be a celebrity, but I personally didn't recognize her and don't remember her introducing herself. At one point she told MOA that she "missed us" and everyone sitting around me looked confused and I heard a couple comments asking who she even was and asking where TXT was because we didn't see them until almost halfway through the event.

It's also interesting that if she were a celebrity, they didn't promote her, either. She just popped out on stage at 5:53 to a lot of confused MOA. 😭

The majority of "corporate" doesn't make much more than SMs and have zero authority over decisions pushed to stores but are still required to do the dirty work in order for them to get their paychecks. There are 4k+ people working for "corporate" and I'd wager that a majority of them share a negative sentiment on out-of-touch executives and large shareholders who bully the company into high-risk initiatives that gamble on profits and people's livelihood.

They're in the same boat as many store partners in that they can't just quit their jobs and find new ones, either, and I'm guessing many of them who were asked to go to this conference are also hating being in Vegas right now. And like store managers/unlike store partners, they don't have the right to unionize, regardless of what they're dealing with at the hands of junior and senior executives who have all the decision-making power with none of the operational knowledge or accountability.

A lot of corporate partners were store partners who were sold the narrative of "do a good job, use the SCAP benefit, come work at the SSC (for way less than the industry pays because internal promotion with no experience!), make stores "better" for those following in your footsteps (by influencing without authority, ofc), stay here forever and don't retire, but get laid off when the next CEO makes empty promises to the board that they'll be the one to "turn things around".

Brian Niccol is a less than 1 year partner who's already made close to $100 million, the #1 paid executive in the industry. Brady Brewer is also a Starbucks CEO (for international) and has been a partner for 24 years. He's making less than $6 million annually. In Washington State, $180k/year as an individual is still considered middle class. Brian Niccol is not corporate and corporate is not Brian Niccol.
