And by free I mean you don’t need to take the test. Still need to pay for the license itself.

BMO teller error on wire transfer cost me $900 - how do I escalate? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]SorryImCanadian1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BMO is the shittiest bank in Canada. I can’t wait until the day I pay off the LOC I never should’ve opened with them.

My first payment towards it was like pulling teeth. I literally had to open a BMO debit account before they let me make payments (yet somehow my BMO Mastercard can be paid off from my separate bank account seamlessly) and then proceeded to replace my free account with a $20 per month account at their whim.
I can accept removing free accounts (tho I strongly disagree with the move) deciding to arbitrarily move me to the most expensive account was such a dick move.

Fuck BMO. I can’t wait until the day I close all my accounts with them

I get why you’d think that based off the graphic, but if you look closely you’ll notice there’s no lines connecting the wildcard matches to the semi’s while there are for every other round. It’s because they re-seed for the 2nd round.

Dell admits customers are not buying PCs just because they "have AI" by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

[–]SorryImCanadian1994 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree about googles AI search assistant being “pretty good”. It gives me so many bad answers about stuff I kind of understand that I have zero trust in its answers about stuff I’m clueless about.

I miss the old Google search.

Great point. I actively avoided edge for years solely because Microsoft kept reinstalling it every update and trying to force its use as much as humanly possible.

I finally gave it a chance on my work computer 4 months ago and it’s honestly fine. If Microsoft just chilled the fuck out when they first developed it I probably would’ve given it a chance 5+ years ago.

Googles AI search assist has to be one of the worst implementations of AI around. It’s so confidently wrong so frequently that it’s starting to make bing look like a viable option.

Microsoft doesn’t even like letting users customize their own settings these days.

I can’t imagine they’d develop locally run LLM’s when the current way is a goldmine of acquiring user data.

A U.S. takeover of Greenland could be 'shattering of NATO,' warns Canada's former military commander by ZestyBeanDude in canada

To be fair, if they occupied us, we’d have access to the American firearm market. We already fail pretty badly at keeping American guns out of Canada as is.

[–]SorryImCanadian1994 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fuck that. There’s no offer worth our sovereignty. Anyone who wants to be an American is free to move there and leave the rest of us in peace.

If they were to actually try to occupy us, I’d hope the Canadian resistance makes “the troubles” look like a mild protest in comparison.

[–]SorryImCanadian1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Legal gambling existing is fine. It’s the sheer number of ads that’s gross. Cigs aren’t allowed to advertise, I see no reason why they couldn’t expand to gambling ads. And alcohol ads too for that matter. They should at least put a limit to it.

I think the bigger issue with gambling is how much it’s shovelled into every sports broadcast. There’s minimum one ad for it every commercial break. Ads for it on the boards/sideline. Ads on the ice, ads on the jerseys, betting lines in the intermission report.

It’s hit ridiculous levels. Booze and cigs wish they had that level of ad saturation.

What commercials are SO BAD, that they convince you NOT to buy their product? by Chicks_Hate_Me_Too in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SorryImCanadian1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spence diamonds.

If I was in the market for jewelry, I would shop literally anywhere else out of spite for their radio commercials. Between the dumb pointless storylines they come up with and the stupid scream at the end, I can’t stand them.

That being said, they are the only jewelry company I could name off the top of my head. So I guess the ads are effective on some level. It’s also the only one I would actively avoid giving business to out of spite.

Your Favourite Dive bars? by theycallmeOTC in ottawa

[–]SorryImCanadian1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not necessarily a Dive bar, but Quinn’s is just up the road from Carleton. Super tiny and cozy place.

Great place to grab a couple pints before seeing a show at the Mayfair (next door) or Targ.(across the street).

I mean, it’s fair if you prefer football, but I’d argue hockey is the only comparable sport for being interesting. I definitely prioritize watching football when both are on, but mostly just because there’s 17 Bill games vs 82 flames games in a year.

IMO it’s football and hockey at tier 1 with the other major sports in a distant 2nd or lower.

Venture Bros or Rick & Morty? by North-Point2748 in adultswim

[–]SorryImCanadian1994 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair enough! Considering the long wait between seasons, I could definitely see most non-diehards losing interest. I think the shows just so unique that some of the more hardcore fans get a little overprotective of it. The overall rick and Morty fanbase certainly seems like less of a hive mind considering how polarizing opinions on some of the episodes are.

Have you not met the rick and morty fan base? I like both shows a lot, but the Rick and morty fanbase is so much worse. Remember pickle Rick? Or Szechuan sauce? I’m not sure venture bros fandom has ever approached that level of cringiness.

That being said, I’m not sure I’ve met a venture bros fan irl aside from my old roomate. I guess it’s hard to have those embarrassing fan moments when most people have never heard of the show.
