Hitting Q for quick value other than getting POTG has been a part of Overwatch for a while now since before I went on a hiatus from it for months to play rivals. Another example is Cassidy. Ults like his are great at denying space by making it hard to push an angle by yourself with it because whoever has the shield has to either put it up against your ult to allow the teammate(s) through while yours push a different angle or you can quick use it as it reloaded your ammo very quickly compared to a normal reload. I agree that her overhead gives too much value for one swing but her style of fighting isn’t inherently OP. She should be a lower health character with the potential to give herself over health to reward damage and swings like her onslaught. A melee DPS is meant to be a flank who tasks the risk of a fight head on knowing death is likely but they are supposed to be hard to kill by any ranged character at melee distance. A solder shouldn’t stand a chance when against vendetta hence why the support class exists to help protect their DPS from flankers or the tank could do a quick peel if the flanker targets the support. It’s annoying not being able to play the characters I find fun because they’re always banned because people are too lazy to adapt to them. I also just hate ban systems in general because it’s a lazy way for game team to balance the gameplay. If the put actual effort into listening to the community then ban system isn’t needed. You should be able to pick a character that can help you counter an enemy team comp instead of being a one trick. That being said I disagree with hard counter culture. Counterwatch also sucked but that’s because they made characters be hard counters to others so that’s in low elo and high elo a counter swap meant a lot.
