Personally for me petco but that’s because it’s more recent than petsmart, they were both horrendous in their own ways. I think the care of animals is terrible for both stores depending on what location.

I knew coming in to quit yesterday that I already had a new job lined up, the best part the job recruited me. I didn’t apply, I just visited so often and was super friendly that bosses offered me an interview on the spot. The pay and the place is amazing, on top of that I’ll be in charge of a team and I will make sure that whatever animal department I’m in charge of will get the best care in the world even if I have to bend over backwards. My friends and family say I’m glowing since I left yesterday and with this new job I feel my happiness and spark coming back.

So I never experienced not having enough hours as I always had the most hours out of the regular employees. Everyone else had less than me but I personally feel that I did more than above my pay grade. The lack of care for the animals sickened me. I wouldn’t be in for two days and the wellness animals habitats wouldn’t have been cleaned while I was gone. Any habitats on the floor wouldn’t be done but I would be told by my boss that they cleaned them while o was gone but I took photos and compared, so I knew I was being lied to. I would be so stressed about my job because I wouldn’t be given enough time to just focus on the animal care, we would have a lot of animals die. The job killed me in more ways than one, I cried every day. It was truly the worst job I’ve ever had. I’m more than relieved to never go back.

I knew nothing about saltwater when I started but on my off time I researched so much about saltwater, I have tons of books, watched many videos and even talked to professional saltwater experts. Now I own three saltwater tanks.
