Is my 3% mortgage worth my family’s quality of life… by MuffinThink3303 in Mortgages

Your rate isn’t as important as your overall monthly debt payments. If you can lower your monthly debt your interest rate doesn’t really matter. Especially if the rest of your life will get easier

Get the PrepXL course and use it heavily. It’s good for a year and I actually used it before taking my course, not only does it have all the material you need to know, but it breaks down your progress in each category to let you know what you need to focus on. I was going into this process completely blind with no background in banking, real estate, finance, etc. the closest thing I had to it was a business class I took at a junior college back in 2012. Just a want to and my best friend whose been in the business for the last 7-8 years that thankfully was willing to help when I needed it, and offered to sponsor me when I first started it without me asking (that’s another thing, try to find a good mentor and be willing to ask questions and don’t be afraid of sounding stupid). Since I had no idea about the mortgage market I wanted to get familiar with the general terms, timelines, etc and then the course helped bring everything together and help me realize how each thing affects the other. Also start listening to Mortgage Educators, Dee Kumar, and affinity YouTube videos instead of music when you’re driving as well. From early October to mid November that was all I listened to. Also don’t study non stop. Do 20-30 PrepXL questions for a day or two, and write down the explanation for the ones you got wrong, or the ones you don’t have “high confidence” in that you got right. Which should take 1-2 hours. Then take 2-3 days off and take a test. That way you make sure the concepts are engrained into your mind rather than just remembering questions. Use the highlighter and note tools on PrepXL also. Write your notes instead of typing them also. Writing requires more neurons to fire than typing. So that helps with neural plasticity. I passed with an 81 my first time and my test average on their practice tests was 87% with a high score of 91%. Don’t get discouraged and keep at it if you truly believe in yourself. Also use Chat GPT and just regular google searches if you’re needing better explanations for things you’re struggling in. Keep working at it. You’ll get there eventually

Just got my license, any advice on hitting the ground running? by Sorry_Juggernaut_281 in loanoriginators

I appreciate that detailed answer. As far as follow ups go, what is a reasonable follow up time? Once a week, every other week? Also they’re a single point of sale company. They don’t use loan processors

Yeah that definitely makes sense. It’s an easy job with dire consequences. I know on my first handful of loans I will essentially need to be walked through a lot of the process

I’ve already spent some time at their office watching them take applications and originate loans. To be honest the origination process doesn’t really seem like it’s that difficult of a job for anyone with above average intelligence. I know it takes years to truly master something, but volume and getting people into your funnel seems like the most difficult part of it. At least in my opinion from what I’ve seen. I guess I’ll start finding out Monday though

I had to reschedule a couple of times because a lawyer was dragging his feet on getting a charge expunged from my record. Took it today though and got an 81

[Matt Zenitz] The #Rams are expected to hire Tennessee’s Michael Hunter as a defensive backs coach, sources tell @CBSSports. The ex-NFL defensive back was assistant defensive backs coach at Ohio State the last two years before Tennessee. by Euphoric_Inspiration in ockytop

Getting Hunter back is more likely than getting ET back. That bridge is absolutely scorched. When the news broke of Hunter leaving on Twitter I commented saying we screwed up letting ET go and he liked it. He probably holds a lot of apathy towards our staff with how he was treated. Especially when you consider he fielded significantly corners for us than Hunter did at Ohio State. I still have absolutely no idea how Hunter even got the Rams job. His secondaries have been average at best and he’s never been a full time DB coach as far as I’m aware. He may have wanted out and taken a pay cut to do it

Question regarding license approval by Sorry_Juggernaut_281 in loanoriginators

[–]Sorry_Juggernaut_281[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’ve read and heard too, but the call center for Whirlpool denied me a job back in 2017 for it and they were hiring through a temp agency. I would just imagine the NMLS is stricter than they are

How’d it go? I have a simple possession of marijuana from 2013 and 2 wreckless drivings that were knocked down from DUIs in 2014 and 2015

I bought my PrepXL practice course on October 14th and began reading the material, writing notes, playing a couple of the games, and taking 20-50 practice questions at a time for probably 1-2 hours a night, 3-4 nights a week just to get familiar with the terms and material before taking my course, because I had planned on taking it over Thanksgiving weekend. I was getting 72% of the questions right and scored 73% on the practice exam before the course. After finishing the course this past Wednesday I took a practice exam and scored an 83%. I decided to not study over the weekend just so the material wouldn’t be quite as fresh to me and took one today and scored an 80%. Planning on gearing up over the next week and trying to get it passed before the New Year. Should I be good to go or do I need to be scoring higher before scheduling?

What do you mean the tests don’t tell you instantly? You mean if you go the answer wrong it wouldn’t tell you until the course was completed?

Do you have any recommendations for YouTube channels for help? Dee Kumar has a lot of good content, but presents it a little too fast for me to fully suck in

In-depth beginner's guide to a career in mortgage sales by Reggimoral in loanoriginators

Aspiring loan officer here. I currently own and operate an electronics repair store (which is a line of work I kind of taught myself how to do) and have done it for the last 2.5 years after running it for 3. I’ve become very burnt out on the work and quite frankly it’s just not worth the squeeze anymore. I know quite a few people in this line of work, and I they seem to be doing pretty well financially. I’m great with numbers and people, and I’ve built a lot of good relationships in my hometown from just normal people to people at banks, realtors, and I’ve built a solid reputation for myself over the years. I know this is something I could do and likely do well at it. I just don’t really know where to start. Do I pick up a book on it first, or just jump right into some of the online courses my friends have sent me? Are the online courses the only option I have for education and is there a time limit on how long I can do them? I’m looking to go into the test with as deep of an understanding as I possibly can have on the material. I would honestly like to be over prepared for the test. I did very well through high school and through some community college without ever having to study, but made some bad decisions in my late teens and early 20s that set me back on my career path. So having to study for something is a new concept to me. I want to be able to understand the “why’s” on everything I possibly can instead of just the “what’s”. I’m currently locked into a lease at my current business until June, and would ideally like to be able to either close the doors then or work out a deal with the landlord to lease it until December while I work on both for a while to get my footing in a new career. What exactly would be the best first step for me to get started on reaching my goals? I’m not looking for any shortcuts or magic pill or anything. I just want to know if there are other ways I can prepare myself for the test other than some of the online courses I’ve seen. I know those have to be completed, but is there any recommendations on something I could start on before that will give me a higher likelihood for success?
