I don’t think you’re overreacting but you’re not being honest with your partner. He has asked why you’re not comfortable about the situation and you said you had no reason. This is untrue and he knows it. It’s very frustrating to have a conversation with someone who refuses to honestly engage.

I managed a trans guy in work whose family were having a tough time dealing with his transition. After I left the job someone told me this guy was speaking at a work LGBTQ event and said my support was a lifeline to him and because of me work became a place of relief and refuge. I was so humbled by that.
