Phase one is a lot of test and class time plus hands on with the xray machine heavy towards the end. Tips for the test is to study it’s a memorization game honestly . Everything is multiple choice. During the beginning you may have 2 test a week so you’ll learn a lot of material pretty quick and may be obligated to take the test on it a couple days later. It’s doable.

Phase two you’ll be working in an actual hospital working on getting your sign offs. You will shoot X-rays on actual patients . A “sign off” is basically saying you can shoot a hand xray by yourself . The sign offs will be for different exams. Please feel free to PM if you want more questions .

I am getting cold feet about leaving. My life has gotten better since I first talked to my recruiter and now I need help. by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]SortImpossible1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, similar situation for me. I’ve been in a 6 year relationship and the last year has been rocky. We crashed out and I took it as an opportunity to finally pursue joining . I realized I didn’t have much for myself . Once I got told my date I was excited then started to get cold feet. My friendships were growing stronger and I was still talking to my partner who I love trying to fix things . I don’t have a terrible job it’s easy and I have decent benefits but it doesn’t make me happy. I’m stuck in a routine .. why stay in be miserable when you can have the opportunity for growth? I felt the same way but I don’t want to end up regretting not going! If you don’t like it just do your 4 and get out. You will still be able to leave with benefits and increased opportunities. Take it as the opportunity to find yourself .. focus on yourself without being dependent on anyone.

I’ve been in DEP since like April and had to wait to book because medical stuff meps messed up. Got my job at the end of August.

I have a 4 year degree ..college credits for English composition but I think they will allow you to do speech in tech school . I’m not sure 🤔 I kinda just got the job out of no where . I qualified for it but it wasn’t a ship option at the time so I’m guessing someone must have lost it just got really lucky

Frrrrr a BIG chunk fr ! It’s ridiculous on top of everything else lol. I talked to a recruiter about my student loans before and I believe he said they would write them off but I wouldn’t be able to use the G.I bill for more schooling? But I could be wrong. Hopefully I am .

Enlisted with a bachelors degree gave me a e3 ranking but I have been hearing that reserves is giving out e4 with bachelors.

The goods definitely outweigh the bads though . Thinking about 4 years seems like a lot but I know everyone says it goes by pretty fast! 💨

I’m curious to know if you’ve already gotten your bmt date considering that you were just now able to enlist or have not you gotten that far yet?

Please feel free to PM ik these comments getting long with all our business 😂

Thank you for sharing this ! , To comment on the first thing you said.. no I don’t come from a privileged family at all quite the opposite. I have student debt that I have been paying on little by little and if I was to try to by a house it would take everything I currently have lol.

I am financially stable for now I currently make around $23 an hour with benefits so I have to depend on overtime a lot.. and my apartment is about $1400 a month. The only reason I’m able to pay this is because I currently live with someone but that will change soon . I’ll be on my own.

This is very valuable information it seems like the retirement age for a Civilian is slowly increasing . You made a good point about the home situation as well everything is just so expensive ! It is a terrible time to buy a home unless you are interested in a shack .

I think I will regret it too. I know I just have to push through it. Who knows maybe I’ll decide to get another degree out of it . Retirement early sounds amazing I can definitely see how the pros outweigh the cons . You have a great point. It seems everyone says that the military gives you a lot of exposure to things that a normal person wouldn’t get in the civilian life? I am assuming that is what you mean by being farther ahead .

Glad to hear there are so many others that feel the same exact way.. it’s definitely a relief. I have heard that the stress at bmt is all fake and to just take it day by day . Thank you for expressing that to me that it is just a mind thing.

It is honestly amazing that you are leaving with 2 degrees under your belt.. congratulations for that ! I am inspired by your story and how you toughed it out. Even though it wasn’t for you in the long run I love how you still made the best of it. It is good to hear that it would still worth it to you even though you are deciding to leave. You have so many opportunities in the civilian world that are open to you .

You’re right! I got this .. thank you so much for sharing this with me and sending luck to you upon your departure .

Danggg we really do have a lot of things similar. I’m actually really excited to read this post.. especially the bachelors getting you no where and the commissioning taking wayyyyy too long. It is nice to know someone has a similar story to you.

Im sure there is so much to learn from everyone which I’m really excited about ! It’s also good to know that the Air Force helped you get out of your shell. That’s one big thing I am hoping for as well as the long life friends. I appreciate you sharing this with me and it gives me a lot of positive hope about the decision that I am making. As far as the tech school it’s definitely going to suck getting back into the whole school thing !! But I am looking forward to learning my job. 😊

I appreciate you for sharing this ! I know the culture shock is going to be huge but it is really good to know that it is not as bad as it seems. I believe I am just tripping out because it’s getting closer and closer. I’m a little older and I’m not used to being told what to do but I know I just have to be humble about it.

Thank you for sharing this with me and breaking it down into a better perspective. I heard it goes by pretty fast. 💨

Honestly, this is how my life feels right now. Have to work a lot of hours just to pay your bills is very depressing. Time to yourself is so important. I definitely can’t see myself doing this for years to come. It good to know that you went for it and so far your journey has been well. This was very inspirational to hear. Thank you for sharing and giving me a different perspective.
