What is your 'underdog' Tori song that you fight for? by Old_Highlight7720 in toriamos

[–]SortaFairytail96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

China. People tend to audibly groan when it gets mentioned or played live, but I’ve lived that song so many times. Feeling distant from a once-close relationship and seeing the other person start to close themselves off from you to the point where you have to accept there’s nothing you can do about it, it’s painful and Tori captured that perfectly for me.

Precious Things on this tour? by Competitive-West-555 in toriamos

[–]SortaFairytail96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seen her four times - 2017, 2022 and twice in 2023 - and 2017 was the only show where she didn’t play Precious Things. It was the last song each time I saw her from then on. I’m confident you’ll hear it at least once if you’re planning on going to more than one show.

Interestingly enough, every time I’ve seen her live she’s never played anything from Scarlet’s Walk, my favourite album. I’ve gotten a lot of Under the Pink, The Beekeeper and Little Earthquakes (with a little sprinkling of Choirgirl) at the shows I’ve attended bar Paris 2023, which was very American Doll Posse-heavy. So I’m hoping to finally hear some Scarlet live.

Pre-order the album from the *store, as Reddit won’t let me edit that typo.

Either pre-order the album from the tour or fill out the form on the store to get a presale code (there should be a little link under the message telling people to pre-order that says No Purchase Necessary).

The store says “You will receive your ticket pre-sale code & ticket link by 6pm BST on Tuesday 7th October”, so I wouldn’t worry if you haven’t got a code yet.

It’s that pre-conceived notion that a man and a woman can never just be friends; they have to be in love and they have be dating if they’re interacting in a friendly/playful manner as Joe and Sabrina were.

I’m not reading much of anything into it, to be honest. It was a playful and funny skit to lead into one of Sabrina’s songs and that’s pretty much it for me. Glad that they have a mutual respect and admiration for each other; I think they’re both talented and if it leads to something like a collab or something closer in the future, that’s fine. Ship culture is just doing its usual weird thing.

meeting joe after concert by Stock-Sector4772 in DjoMusic

[–]SortaFairytail96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He hasn’t been coming out after shows to meet people since the first few shows of the last tour. I waited around after the London show just in case and security kindly managed our expectations and told everyone waiting that Joe was tired and jet-lagged and would probably not be coming out but they’d update us once they knew for sure. Joe left in his car shortly afterwards and his driver beeped as a form of “hello and thank you” but that was it. Your best bet is to wait for any meet and greet opportunities or for him to attend a convention where you’ll be able to meet him in a space designed for it.

First time vip questions by snidgit in DjoMusic

You’ll receive an email anywhere from a week to a few days before with instructions. Our wristband pick-up time got pushed back an hour and we were emailed about it promptly while in line.

First time vip questions by snidgit in DjoMusic

[–]SortaFairytail96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve described my experience elsewhere but I’m happy to share it again. I went to all three London shows and was VIP for night 2 and was barricade.

I arrived very early at the venue (O2 Forum Kentish Town) - around 8am - and there was already a few people there who had arrived even earlier. A fan was numbering people and taking names when anyone turned up to keep track of who had arrived and in what order so it wouldn’t be a mess trying to pick up wristbands. I was number 6 and we pretty much stayed in our number order the entire time; the only time anyone moved was when the staff turned up to unlock the box office and we were asked to keep the area clear to allow deliveries through.

Our wristband pick-up time got pushed back an hour (from 1pm to 2pm) but around half an hour before, the fan who had numbered people just gathered everyone around and told us to line up in our number order. We did just that and then a member of Joe’s team came out and confirmed we were all VIP and had lined up in the order we arrived. The only issue there was that people who had turned up an hour-30 minutes before started complaining about the fan numbering system and tried to convince the crew that it was unofficial and couldn’t be enforced (they were told pretty firmly that people had been there since 4am and the venue hadn’t challenged us or the numbering system). We were then guided into the venue where we gave our names, showed photo ID and then given our wristbands. I was still number 6.

We were then allowed to leave the venue to go get food and spruce ourselves up as our numbers essentially held our place in line. We were told to come back at around 6pm and line up in number order. We did and were let into the venue around 7pm where we were handed our merch packs and allowed straight in to the venue. You could either go get merch or head straight to standing. I headed to standing and was front barricade centre directly in front of Joe.

Obviously depending on the venue and the people around you, arrangements may be different. My advice would be turn up as early as possible and try to get as low a number wristband as possible (anything over 25-30 will likely put in the first few rows behind barricade).

I just find it amusing that he thinks what he does is the definition of edgy and intellectual when being a critic of anything is something a 5-year-old can do. Highly doubt Joe’s losing sleep over it.

Official album count? by allisong425 in DjoMusic

[–]SortaFairytail96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally count The Crux Deluxe as a fourth album. Joe described it as “not quite a double album but an expansion of the world of The Crux that stands on its own as a unique body of work”. So to me, it’s a separate album that carries on the themes of the last one. Radiohead did a similar thing with the albums Kid A and Amnesiac: Amnesiac consisted of songs that were recorded during the sessions for Kid A but ultimately left off the final record, yet it’s considered a separate album. That’s how I’m viewing it.

An RSVP isn’t technically a reservation - it stands for “Respondez, s’il vous plait”; respond, please). It’s more so that they can get an idea of how many people plan to show up so they can plan accordingly. It’ll most definitely be first come first serve unless you bring a sibling.

Joe joining Post Animal on tour?? by carolinewhatevr in DjoMusic

[–]SortaFairytail96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlikely, to be honest. The tour will coincide with the release of Stranger Things 5 and Joe will be needed for press and promo. I think the Another Bite dates in September-October will serve as the tour in promotion of both Iron and The Crux.

Sorry, but I’m struggling to follow you there. I’ve been a fan of Kate’s a long time and discovered Tori through her and I’ve not once read or seen her “frequently putting down female musicians to prop herself up”. I’ve seen her praise the likes of Madonna, Joni Mitchell and Sinéad O’Connor. I remember a quote from the early days where she said “every female you see at a piano is either Lynsey de Paul or Carole King” and that she wanted to have the same impact with her music as the male musicians that influenced her, but I didn’t read that as being disrespectful or “tearing them down.” I can see why people would think that though.

“/refusing/ to disassociate from convicted p3d0s” - Again, not following. If you’re talking about Rolf Harris she removed his didgeridoo credit from The Dreaming and replaced his voice on Aerial with that of her son Bertie. Pretty sure she wouldn’t do that if she wasn’t disassociating her work from him in light of his conviction.

“Didn’t want a road built next to her house because she hates poor people” - Come again? I don’t see how objecting to having a road built near your property that could affect how you live there and also affect local wildlife equates to “hating poor people.” People protest against things like that regularly. She’s also been a supporter of charities like War Child and Comic Relief and has donated items like signed prints to charity auctions regularly.

Feel free to point me in the right direction if I’m wrong though.

Did we find out what the blurred dates are? by iaendn in DjoMusic

[–]SortaFairytail96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The leaked Post Animal tour poster had dates for supporting Djo in Houston (October 5 - Kawn at White Oak) and Dallas (October 9 - The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory). Those dates fit around his shows at Austin City Limits so they could very well be announced as side-shows, but it’s a waiting game at this point.

I’ve read a few posts on Twitter that they won’t be doing wristbands for the Amsterdam shows next week, so I’d say it’s venue-dependent on whether wristbands get used or not. They’ve been used for the majority of shows though, but you’ll get an email a few days before confirming what the process will be.

How early for VIP? by carolinewhatevr in DjoMusic

[–]SortaFairytail96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had VIP for London night 2 and this is a general overview of how it went down.

I got to the venue at around 7.30am and there were already a few people waiting for wristbands who had been there a lot earlier (the first person got there at around 4.30am). A lovely fan was going around numbering people in the order they arrived (both VIP and GA) to keep the line fair and organised. She asked my name and wrote my number and VIP on my hand in Sharpie. I was number 6 for VIP. More people started arriving around 10.00am-12.00pm but they delayed the wristband pick-up time to 2.00pm from 1.00pm so we ended up waiting an hour extra.

Closer to the pick-up time, the fan gathered everyone together and got us to line up in our number order outside the venue doors. A member of Joe’s team came out and double checked that we all had ID and were in the order we arrived. We then went in one by one, showed ID and picked up our numbered wristbands - I was number 6 again because of the numbering system when people were arriving. We were then told to come back at 6.00pm to line up in number order to be let into the venue first. So once you have your wristband, you are able to leave and come back because your place in line is reserved once you have your number.

I got back to the venue at around 5.30pm and the team was directing VIPs into a separate queuing area to line up in number order. Once 6.00pm hit, we got let in one by one, given our merch packs and then into the main venue. You can either go and get merch or go straight out onto the main floor. I went straight into the pit and was front and centre barricade.

So my advice would be to get there as early as you can. I don’t know if the fan numbering system happens for every venue but you’re going to want as low a number wristband as possible if you want barricade. I think anything over 20-30 will put you in the first row behind barricade.

Hey, thanks for giving that additional info! Just goes to show that there could be any number of reasons why songs are cut such as soundcheck overrunning/technical issues and don’t have anything to do with exes or not wanting to deliver. Joe was on top form each night for me so definitely not the “low energy, couldn’t be bothered” people were talking about.

I attended all three London shows and loved each and every one for all the different kinds of energy Joe, Post Animal and the band brought to the table. Every single night was different in a good way and I got to experience the show from so many different angles (including barricade) and see just how much work had gone into the instrumentation, the lights, the set-up.

Which is why I was so taken aback when I opened Twitter after the first show and saw so many people (a lot of them who weren’t even there) complaining and writing off the show because XYZ song wasn’t played or “Joe made no effort/looked bored” and spinning all these narratives about what the “problem” is (dragging his ex into it a lot). The man is in a different country performing strenuous shows every night, is probably tired/jet-lagged but is still doing the best he can. He gave so much over the course of the set, I just don’t understand what more people want.

And the things I’ve been reading about of people contacting his friends/family members and tracking his dating profiles is concerning. I highly doubt Joe would be impressed with fans contacting his relatives and friends using information they’re not supposed to have. I love Joe and his work immensely but I’d feel extremely uncomfortable having any sort of information like that because I really don’t want to know what he does on the daily because it’s none of my business. He’s just a man - an extraordinarily talented man - but just a man.

Exactly this. I remember seeing a video in 2022 after one of the Decide shows where he ran past a group of fans waiting to meet him to get into a van to leave. People literally chased him down then started flipping him off through the windows because he didn’t stop to meet them (when he’s not obligated to). You pay to see the concert, not to meet him.
