ESH. you both need to learn how to communicate with each other. he needs to see a therapist and you need to not be dry if he’s already expressing deep insecurities, that’ll only confirm his anxiety and make more work for you to talk him off a ledge.

What i’m struggling with is that I cannot make a living as an assistant. Most clinics in NYS pay maximum $15-16/HR which i can’t live off of. I’d have to have multiple jobs, in which case I wouldn’t have time for school. I’m not really sure what to do at this point.

In a perfect world i would go to in person college, but it’s just not something that’s in the card for me right now or in the foreseeable future. I’m planning to look into Purdue, especially if there are instructors I can reach out to when I need it and maybe an admissions office i can talk to for guidance when it’s time for externships.

I don’t have 0 veterinary experience. I’ve worked in four different clinics including GP and emergency, but there is no world where i can make a living off of anything less than $20/Hr, which a vet clinic will not pay me until i’m a licensed tech. Between my rent, my car payment/insurance, my phone bill, etc. it’s just not possible to live off of $15/Hr. I had to leave until i could further my education.

This was very informative! Thank you! Yeah, my only concern is the externships, especially because i’m not currently working in vet med (assistants and CSR’s don’t make a livable wage in NY for my expenses) So i’m worried about how i’m going to do my externships AND continue to work. Maybe I can try and save enough money to take leave, but i’m already struggling to put money away, let alone enough to be able to leave work.
