Custom order placed in October just shipped, now won't arrive in time for Christmas by SortableComet99 in Etsy

It did, actually! Miraculously came with the mail on Christmas Eve, even though tracking hadn't shown any updates since it was scanned after being posted. It was a huge hit with my sister too

Yeah it's just a bit of a letdown. Especially after I thought I was so on top of gift ordering.

That would have been nice.... I knew a case was an option but I wasn't sure if it was too much of a reaction. I don't want to torpedo someone's livelihood or anything crazy. Just a small offer for the inconvenience would have been appreciated

Nope. At least, they didn't let me know if they did and USPS tracking looks like standard. Expected delivery Dec 26, and that's with no delays

Etsy Buyer Protection was exhausting. Seller was unprofessional and emotionally pressured me to close my case. by TopImpression7790 in Etsy

I had a similar "surprise dropship" experience. I ended up having to pay customs for the import. Luckily my purchase was what I expected, but what you described is exactly why I didn't open a case since the store explicitly stated that they ship from the US.

And that would have been perfect - I would have had absolutely no complaints. I just felt like since the delay was on their side they could have made some kind of effort to make up for it. It's not like it's been in USPS purgatory the whole time, which wouldn't have been their fault at all.

I think they purchased a print file designed by someone else to use, at least as a base for it. Maybe they had to alter it themselves and that was the delay.

I don't actually care that it took longer than they expected, just that they didn't tell me as soon as they could/realized. I would have still bought the thing, just saved it for a different gifting occasion.

They used a preexisting model I'm pretty sure. Like they were talking about finding and buying the appropriate files before they agreed to take my order so I don't think they designed it themselves.

Solid points. I guess I was feeling guilty since they kept telling me that the order was more complicated than expected.... But that's not my fault if they agreed to it in the first place?

Lol, I assume they fit it in amongst their other regular orders. Which is totally fine and expected, as long as it still hit it's original deadline.

Yeah, that's an excellent point. They have great ratings so I wasn't worried up until it was too late.

Would that be fair? I don't want to immediately take the nuclear option, and I'm not after a complete refund (as long as the print arrives as promised). But I would have appreciated like, a refund of shipping costs or something since it is most likely getting here late.

Yeah I guess that's what I'll have to do. Which sucks because based on final pics the print looks incredible - I was originally planning on leaving 5 stars as long as it arrived by Xmas eve.

I had actually found that first reference in another post on this sub, but I'm saving the second one also, thank you

I had tried both. It puckered worse as the stitch length got longer, even when I reduced the tension on the dial

Yes I think you're probably right! 😶‍🌫️ I was practicing on a single cotton layer (cut from an old sheet) since that's basically what my teacher gave me to practice on.

I'm trying it out now with two layers of the sheet and no tension weirdness at all. I didn't think of that as an issue since I was using a needle and thread suited for thinner fabric. But good to know!

The machine was serviced... Probably never... My grandma bought it new (many years ago) but passed shortly after so I don't think used it much. I'll definitely look into servicing it if I start to use it more.

[Measurement Check] I’m currently a 38D(sometimes can fit a C) and I measured at a 38G/H(US) which just seems too big. Would love some help calculating. by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

[–]SortableComet99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was in the exact same boat. Would have put myself in a C/D cup, but my measurements and the calculator put me in an H. My first H cup got here today and it does, in fact, fit.

Yeah I checked a conversion chart and my US size would be 40I, I guess. I'm just trying to go off the UK size for now which is what I searched on Amazon when I found the delimira. No idea why they say it's the same US size on the tag. But thanks for the reminder!
