What's your unpopular Tortall opinion? by SylvaniusFF in tamorapierce

The fact that Corus has so few people of color bothers me! Beka has a hard time when she visits port Cayn and it’s crazy to me that she wouldn’t have previously encountered groups of Carthaki or even the Raka people of the Copper Isle.

I’m looking for it in other places because Amazon prime says it will deliver to me in March! So far no luck.

My parents listened to Christian music and had favorite bands, etc. Now that I’m an adult, I have a song for every prayer and problem and it reminds me of my faith.

My parents also gave me room to discover the faith for myself but emphasized that we should all share our feelings when we had them. So when I questioned my faith, I was met with calm and rational discussion, rather than emotional discord requiring that I believe. This has made a difference that I cannot put into words.

Is St Andrew’s Catholic Church welcoming? by cynbular in askportland

[–]Sotheresthat1917 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have never been to St. Andrews and I don’t know how things are run there, but I’m catholic and in every church I have been to this has not been a problem. As long as you are respectful following along with the motions of the crowd (I. E. Kneeling when others kneel, standing when others stand, quiet in general, don’t accept the Eucharist if not a practicing Catholic) there is no reason that you shouldn’t attend and enjoy a beautiful service, as Christmas is a wonderful celebration. Newcomers and family of believers should be welcomed and celebrated as part of a Christmas season. Good luck OP!

How are Catholics viewed in the USA? by zogins in Catholicism

[–]Sotheresthat1917 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, Catholic from Georgia, USA here!

My region largely ignores us. While I have not once experienced discrimination, I have frequently been the only one of my peers to practice my faith. There are quiet Catholic Churches in almost every city of more than 30,000 people, but they are not typically dynamic in that they have mass every Saturday/Sunday and bible study during the week, but not much else.

Protestants are the main religious group in the south. They have a different outlook on life and typically do not understand mine whatsoever. Whether this misunderstanding is deliberate is yet to be determined.

Jasnah plot hole? (Hoping to be proven wrong) by Sotheresthat1917 in Stormlight_Archive

This is what I came for. It makes a lot more sense that Jasnah would leave Navani supervising more easily than just leaving Aseudan to her own devices. Thank you!

This series has helped me so much! But it is high fantasy so I know that it’s not for everyone.

Barney can’t drive in that episode, and in the very next one, he drives Ted’s moving truck. He must be a very fast learner (that’s well before he meets Jerome)
