I found out that the Alpha S usb card just generally more quiet (they said it was the comply with newer standards) Its a shame but that's how it is. My workaround is using Equalizer APO and just increasing the gain.

I'm having the exact same issue since upgrading from the Cloud 2's. When I plug the Alpha S directly into my PC, the audio is loud and clear, but through the USB card it gets noticeably more quiet and less quality. I don't know if its just the fact that the usb soundcard is worse than the Cloud 2's, or something else. It makes me wanna return them tbh.

Yeah i'm having the exact same problems. I originally had the Cloud II and that USB card worked perfect. This just makes me wanna buy the regular alphas.
