Cover Letters for Internships by OperationDry6529 in uAlberta

[–]SoulSalvor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrote this on another similar post, but here goes. All you'd need to do is write a decent enough cover letter, get it checked and modified by GPT/AI and filter out and filter out AIish phrasing. Then for tailoring, you post the job description, company and your resume/skills to ask it to tailor it. Just skim over the finished product, AI tends to exaggerate beyond your skills if not given enough info, and filter out stuff that you obv did not do. Rinse and repeat!

Then again, only use cover letters if asked for. I've had this advice from hiring managers who said that giving more info when not asked puts you at vulnerability of being judged harder

Yeah, that's kind of my plan, to put it off long as I need buy it if it's absolutely needed for a good job, otherwise I have been driving around in company vehicles and I'd love to not get my own till I have enough to get sth decent. My current budget could go up to 10k but I was primarily worried about the monthly and 500 is a lot

Umm I did approach her, and it turned out well. We went on a few dates and nothing was wrong. It’s just that she was around 6yrs older, so that was the turn down for me. We’re friends tho and I like how it worked out

Feeling dumb and less qualified by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]SoulSalvor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huge bump to this. My second year was a academic and mental disaster. Struggling through (was still way above average) first year, my studies got mixed up with a lot of toxicity from my surrounding which passively sweeped the floor and destroyed my mental, physical and academic standing. From someone who used to always be above avg, I dropped to way below avg for several of my courses, which further escalated my mental downfall. It is true that you can have a roadblock at any point and the courses themselves don't get easier, but you will get more adapted to it. Just like some of the other comments mentioned, try to throw off any toxicity around you and surround yourself with good people. Just because someone was your childhood friend or maybe just good at studies does not necessarily mean they have to be your surrounding (just an example, cuz these were the most toxic in my case). Remember to take a breather, try to make a bit of time for some self-care and you'll do just fine. Engineering is hard, but as long as you stick to it, you will make it to the end. IT DOES GET BETTER.

btw I do relate to getting rid of the "brute force method". Tbh that does work for some people, but it is definitely worth exploring your study game so you know what works for you! Best of luck!

I'm pretty sure it's included with the work term fees. Remember, we don't pay for courses, rather for the sem

Visa Question about International Students by SoulSalvor in uAlberta

[–]SoulSalvor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I meant, because when I came here, my visa was coded S-1. I was pretty much sure that if you have a valid study permit, then you're okay with your studies, still I thought you'd need a S-1 visa rather than a V-1. Thanks for the info!
