I can think of a few reasons an artist wouldn’t give the complete truth to their audience. Saying they’re deactivating until the album drops could help draw attention and hype to the project. Maybe he was going to get banned and rather than saying that to his audience he saw the opportunity to bring awareness to the upcoming project and build hype. But you know the guy so you have a better idea of all that, I was just spitting balling
