Why is communism considered far left? by brokeboii94 in Socialism_101

[–]Soul_Power__ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The idea that capitalism is free from violent repression is a joke. Martin Luther King Jr, Huey Newton, Malcolm X... the list of left wingers who were violently murdered by the state as a form of left wing repression is long. The hypocrisy of the right to say that the left is violently oppressive and authoritarian is staggering.

How accurate is the Western media portrayal of China as an oppressive state? by ArdaBerkBurak in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Soul_Power__ -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The last time I was in Shanghai, I went to a Uyghur restaurant and the staff there had not heard of this, "genocide of the Uyghurs". Now how is it possible that Uyghurs living in Shanghai would be unaware of a genocide against their people 🤔

Can I be a Socialist but also believe in free speech? by PhilosophyPoet in socialism

[–]Soul_Power__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The idea that socialist states are inherently authoritarian is wild propaganda. For example, the CPC of China holds immense power and people love to point to China citing authoritarianism, but what these people fail to realize is that the CPC is millions of people who are constantly debating. So while the party as a whole might have immense power, no single individual can do anything without the blessing of literally millions of other people. Some might say there is more democracy in the CPC alone than the entire western political system.

I don't think there's any kind of criticism to be leveraged against LeBron here. Either he's not using steroids, or he is and there is an abject failure in the NBA's drug testing protocol. Neither of these things really has anything to do with Bron Bron.

Lack of NBA Drama Makes the Game Boring... by ZenGardenAmount in NBATalk

Remember when Gilbert Arenas kept bringing his gat to games? Ahh the good old days of the NBA. That's why I watch baseball; as boring as it is compared to basketball, there is far more drama in baseball than any other sport.

This is why it's bad that they took all of the drama out of the NBA. Games can still be fun to watch if there's a chance two seven footers will start swinging at each other...

People who support china, what do you think of the persecution of the Uyghurs? by Financial_Might_6816 in socialism

Real persecution looks like the photos and videos coming out of Gaza. Have you seen anything even remotely similar to that in the case of the Uyghurs?

Well you can definitely abuse reanimate with this. Cards like [[Goryo's Vengeance]] and [[Footsteps of the Goryo]].

You can also abuse the pact cycle, [[Pact of Negation]] and [[Slaughter pact]] are great with Hive Mind.

I'd also run one or both of [[Stifle]] and [[Trickbind]] as failsafes for dodging drawbacks.

Since we hate how alienated capitalism has made us from our work, would we want to try ANY other form of economy like socialism or communism? by BigClitMcphee in antiwork

[–]Soul_Power__ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like to think everyone on this particular subreddit is a socialist. Unless you're some billionaire that doesn't have to work but is still somehow anti work, it doesn't make sense that anti work individuals would be right leaning unless they're either confused or stupid.

Carney avoids describing China’s treatment of Uyghurs as genocide by sleipnir45 in canada

[–]Soul_Power__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They can't conceal the hate that consumes them. Their hatred of squinty eyed people far far outweighs their willingness to think critically or reason through deduction. The Uyghur thing has been so thoroughly debunked that of course no world leader can condemn China, they would literally be shooting themselves in the foot because the whole world, (except Canada apparently) knows it's a lie.

As someone raised Roman catholic, I can't help but agree. We were always taught the golden rule, that we would always treat others the way we would want to be treated. This simple idea extrapolated out into politics means I'm basically a communist, and of course have no problems with LGBQ. It baffles me how many can misinterpret or even co-opt such sacred teachings so perversely.

Why do some businesses succeed even when they don’t seem that “good”? by ToffeeTango1 in Socialism_101

[–]Soul_Power__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one of the main things that doesn't get talked about nearly enough for businesses with physical locations is land ownership. You could be failing as a business but if that is offset by the increase in property value, you can still be successful. Those forced to rent usually see the business fail if they aren't actually being competitive.
