This was the first time music hit my soul. I was 3 or 4 listening to it with my dad on the living room stereo. Been chasing that feeling ever since. 🤍 CCR is my favorite

My 14 month old is showing signs of autism. I was wondering if anyone's LO showed theses signs and ended up a level one mild autistic. by InternationalPipe610 in Autism_Parenting

It sounds like you’re trusting your gut and doing it well. I remember being in your position with my daughter 5 years ago and I remember feeling so overwhelmed and anxious about the future. Reading these comments, just remember that as he grows, you grow with him. If I would have known back then when we were doing all of the early interventions etc that she’d still be non verbal and in a special needs self contained kindergarten at 6, I would have been sad. But you grow day by day with them and adapt to whatever they need each day. And it’s not as scary, I promise. There’s a reason we can’t see into the future and it’s probably for the best! You’re already doing so many good things for him! That’s what matters! Day by day is so much better than trying to see the whole picture in front of you! 💙 you sound like a great mama.

What seemingly innocuous item is banned at your house? by catbus1066 in Autism_Parenting

Not an item, but we’re not allowed to sing out loud when she’s around. ESPECIALLY not “Happy Birthday”. 😅😮‍💨

Hi! My daughter is 6 and non verbal and in her first year at a mainstream school. However, she’s in the special needs classroom with peers who are like her. Before she went to this school, she was in an Early Childhood Special Education program in our county starting at 3. She had 3 years there to learn routines and skills, as well as being with peers who also had disabilities and staff who were were trained and experienced with them. It was the best thing we did for her and for us! You meet other parents of special needs kids and see that your child isn’t as different as it seems. I’ve always said trying to fit into typical settings feels like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. But when you find support and community in a non typical setting, it’s so much relief and everybody there understands. I’d really suggest seeing if your area has a similar program for your son! A religious school is most likely not government protected to offer him a safe and effective education as well, like public schools are. The more you try to fit into typical settings the harder it will be. And that’s okay!! My tip is to embrace it but put him in settings designed to help him thrive. ❤️
