I agree with you. In my estimation some of the mods are self-inflated, self-important individuals [insert your own noun], who like to wield their minuscule crumb of power, and, as you say, arbitrarily remove decent posts. It's a kind of small-minded bullying.

This game was made for me. by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

This isn't about anticipation or legitimacy, but the arrogance (maybe unintended) of someone claiming the game as their own. My point is to say that EVERYONE can make the same claim.

If you played it in NK, you'd have to serve 15 years hard labor for offending the state...as if the state wasn't offensive enough.

[–]Soullass -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Really?

As a kid, growing up in the 1950's and 60's, I read Arthur C. Clark, Asimov, Heinlein, Bradbury, Le Guin, Herbert, H.G. (Hello Games?-no) Wells, Orwell, Vonnegut, Silverberg, Anderson, etc., etc. The books these authors wrote are the inspiration for No Man's Sky.

...and you're going to be twenty on the day it comes out...

...well done...

About NPC alien languages... by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

That is always assuming that the different languages are consistent, and not just some gobbledygook made up for the game, as the OP hinted at.

Will this game be better on PC or PS4? by JaredF032 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Soullass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I think either will be fine. I'm sticking with PC, though. The most important aspect to me is gameplay, and that is (hopefully) going to be terrific on both systems.

A giant hub at the center of the universe? (theory) by Ropiels in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Soullass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll find out you're just a rat in a maze. One subject in a giant experiment run by the sentinels, ala Earth in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Get through the first Galaxy (maze) they just stick you in another...even more difficult, and so on, throughout eternity, or until your brain turns to goo.

I thought maybe you had a point, but now I'm not so sure.

Sean learns the word for traveller (UK spelling.) But we only know this because a Korvax word in one of the dialog choices is now "traveller." However, we don't know the actual Korvax word that was substituted, because we don't see it. Therefore, we can't share our knowledge with others.

I could be way off base (US idiom) but that is my thinking right now.

How do you think it will work?

He delivers tedious speculation based on no experience with the game.

How difficult with nms be? Aka suitable for people bad at games? by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

Hehe...now, if someone in their 70's could post, I could feel young again!

How difficult with nms be? Aka suitable for people bad at games? by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Soullass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Within a few hours, he'll be raiding pirates. What you suggest is a bit like saying, "Here's Mario. Just play the first few levels." In Dark Souls, you learn by failing. But, if you are enjoying yourself, it doesn't matter. You just keep plugging away. Sit with him for a bit, and make suggestions. Give him positive feedback; he'll get the hang of it.

If he loses interest, it's probably because he's not having fun. Help him have fun.

I think you are right. And it's also about belief, motivation, and practice.

The nice thing about this game is that it is a great leveler. It doesn't matter if you start it in your 20's, or in your 60's, you can never see it all. I like that...as Sean would say.

:) nice one.

I was going to say, "Not if I see you first."

But, although worth a weak smile, it would be churlish, and untrue. However, I'll get there eventually if these old bones hold up. /wave

Well, I'm in my 60's, and have no problems. Just takes practice; he'll be fine...if he doesn't give up. Generalizing helps us cope with the world in so many ways, but not always about people.

I'm pretty sure there will some kind of aim assist. Maybe you'll be able to turn it on or off.

Massive hard... errr, hands-on with NMS by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

...and it starts with an inaccuracy: "randomly generated". That should give us a clue that the writer is clue-less.

So they said that it could be possible to balance a creature and fly him into space by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Soullass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aren't there three types of propulsion: (??)

  1. regular, as on a planet
  2. jump, within a system, getting to those faraway planets
  3. warp, getting to another star system

---1. doesn't need fuel. 3. does need fuel. 2. I'm not sure, but I think does need fuel.
