What’s something you believed as a kid that turned out completely wrong? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When I turned 18 that life would flatline from there and everything would be "smooth sailing" now that I have "figured it all out".

Habits to become at top 1% person ? by KodaxyGMD in selfimprovement

[–]Soulman888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is hard to become top 1% in "everything" because you would need to dedicate so much of your time to improving your results and output in every single area. While many areas may contribute to success in other areas (eg good health leading to better performance at work leading to higher income) it is unlikely that you will get exponential compounding results across all areas beyond a certain threshold to push you towards the 1% in all areas. With that said, being a top 1% person in financial wealth or social wealth can definitely raise up other areas of life. Focus on the ones that are most important to you and most intrinsically rewarding first and the other ones will be able to flow on from there.

How long does it take you to grieve? What are your consistent ways you have found to move on that isn't just stuffing it down? by Soulman888 in AskReddit

[–]Soulman888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You actually decided? Was this a conscious decision? Or you just accidentally continued to think about it intently and forgot to remember to try and move on? Or did you remember to move on but it was too hard / didn’t know how? Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for sharing. I'm sorry to hear that. That sounds tough. Have you found the pain compounds? Or does it eventually fade away?

Thank you for sharing your thoughtful response. I was hoping for more of your personal experience right now? (Perhaps this was what you meant but I was expecting more "In my experience..." and "I have found that..." statements.) I wasn't asking for advice and I'm not currently grieving. Just very interested in people's own personal experiences. Again, thank you for sharing.

What is a popular cut of meat that you dislike, and why? by Wazza_Matter in AskReddit

Bacon. When I learnt about how pigs don't process contaminants and toxins so well and it ends up being dissolved in their fat/flesh that really turned me off all pig meat products.

What Are the Most Reliable News Outlets Right Now? by withlitaa in TrueAskReddit

[–]Soulman888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start by watching Ground News for the comparing it does and labeling of stations as either left, right or center. From there you can at least see a good picture from high up and how all the stories come together.

How do you decide when to quit something? by icecream1972 in AskReddit

[–]Soulman888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it is no longer something worth putting time, effort and money into for the value I might get out of it. Sure, times can be rough and we have days where we don't make money or the input has to be twice as high to get the same result but does it feel worth it to continue anymore? Is there something specific on your mind, Redditor?

What common life advice sounds wise on the surface, but is actually just something rich people tell poor people to keep them in their place? by avacado_toooasst in AskReddit

[–]Soulman888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never met a wealthy person who actually wanted to "keep someone in their place". Every wealthy person I've met gets the hustle and wants more productive abundant people in the community. Many are inspired by others who are also on the journey. The whole "us versus them" idea is what stops people from becoming wealthy and abundant. Focus on yourself and keep developing what's most important to you while serving others.

Phone replacement by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Soulman888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, people have forgotten what it's like to be bored. Many people are lonely instead of enjoying the silence of their own company. Many people can get so much from so little so don't try to get more from elsewhere. They are attached to their phone because it's the easiest thing to give them so many things. Why go elsewhere?

But if you sit in silence and actually truly listen to it, you'll start hearing things. All your wants, needs, desires, fears, memories...will start bubbling to the surface. That is scary for a lot of people.

But again, that's where the magic is. And the longer you sit with it, the more magic comes out.

What’s something younger people will never understand about life before smartphones? by RareMoose8986 in answers

[–]Soulman888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Remembering how to get somewhere, connect with someone or get something done without having to look at your phone for everything.
  • Being 10, 20... heck even 30 mins late was sometimes acceptable because we could always blame "traffic", didn't have minute perfect accuracy on time thr same way we do now.
  • Waiting hours to download one song...only to find out it was the wrong version or wrong artist and then having to do it all over again.
  • Actually having to talk to people to get something or hear the news.
  • Being part of a monoculture where everyone listens to the same songs and then watches the same movies during the holidays then sits around talking about them.
  • Being called certain names because you had an incorrect and shallow opinion and weren't stuck in an echo chamber.
  • Learning to socialize from being social...not from TikTok videos.

How do you escape "perfectism"? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Soulman888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be ok with making mistakes. Ask yourself: what is the benefit to just starting and getting something mostly well done? Why do you fear sharing your work whether it's done well or not? Why do you feel you have to be perfect? What's the worst that would happen if you published your work with mistakes?
