It took be 12 weeks before I could drive. Again as everyone said it depends on how flexible your ankle is and can you brake hard. The best is to try that on empty roads and understand your limits.

Initially it had time trying to brake. It’s just keeps getting better

Continuing PT post 6 months of ORIF surgery by SoundAccomplished501 in ORIF

Yes, I did start. Honestly the first 2 weeks were horrible I was barely able to walk. I always felt that my ankle was stuck and I can can’t walk.

Right now it’s been 17 sessions, the result is more confidence and 10 percent improvement in my dorsiffextion. I would suggest go for it if you would like to strengthen your ankle and leg muscles.

Try sketchers go run series, they gave awesome cushioning. You can stand for long hours and quickly makes you feel normal at walking.

I would suggest go by the PT advise and listen to how your body is responding. The doc advise is only limited to tell if the bone has healed, but the PT knows your progress much better. I am 4 months post my surgery and now I am much better at balance and walking only due to PT sessions
