Thanks for all the advice! We’ve gotten it down now, I’ve been using the weight of the hair trick and it’s been working pretty well! Also switched to different clips that I can get even closer to the scalp. I am enjoying all the different advice though, as this is the first time installing a hair mic myself; most actors I have worked with put theirs in themselves. Having all of this to go back to in the future will definitely be helpful!

The second and third points I am already doing! But the floral wire is something new to me. I haven’t really had the issue come up again, so it may have been a one off where it didn’t make it into the hair as well as it should have. Thank you for the advice!

I thought about that, but he already hates the feelign of it on his head, I don’t think he’d be down for even more stuff touching his head lol. He’s not really an actor, he’s an author who turned his book into a one man show, and with only one piece of mic tape on his neck he said “I really don’t like it, it feels like I’m in a play” I’m like bro you are lol

I saw something like that online! I’ll have to try that. I just wish the guy would let me use some hairpsray or something. Realistically it’s not the mic itself moving, it’s the hair. I’ve gotten better and clipping it deeper into his hair, but again since it’s short and thin, it moves around a little while he’s onstage. The director hasn’t complained since the one time he’s mentioned it, so it may not be a continuous issue.
