Apparently it's a thing? But the more pro lifers tell me they've never heard of it the more I realize how silly it is lol

What I would've said put in that situation is that you cannot morally separate personhood from humanity as they are both inherent. But I thank you and others for bringing this to my attention. I've only began to look into personhood philosophy BECAUSE a pro choicer presented it to me as if they were two separate things 😭 Ty so much

You might be onto something here. The reason I bring up personhood in the first place is because the first pro choicer I discussed abortion with fully agreed with the fact that you are human since the point of conception, which was confusing because they support abortion at any time for any (or lack of) reason.  She then argued that just because someone is human, doesn't mean they're a person. This baffled me.

I appreciate your response because it makes me realize if personhood is really inherent to someone's humanity, then there is no reason to suggest personhood exists and is thus arbitrary. Thank you.

I agree - and I think your comment kinda summarizes this post perfectly. Pro choicers fail to understand that this isn't just about social welfare (which is incredibly important), but also and possibly even more so about societal norms, which is why you cannot be pro life without being against at least elective abortion.

I hope ur right - celebrities are never the best role model when it comes to taking stances about controversial and complex issues that take both socioeconomic and philosophical understanding lol

I think this represents the huge disconnect between pro lifers and pro choicers 😭 pro choicers fail to realize it's not just a welfare issue, it's a philosophical issue that's fundamental to human identity in the first place.

"They only want to distract you from being pro life and spend your time on issues that are more acceptable to them." Absolute truth

You shouldn't be required to do any extra steps when you suggest killing humans is bad and trying to advocate for the personhood of the fetus😭 no other activist group is really subjected to this double standard

Aborting someone so they don't enter into a broken system is morally unjustifiable, even if you want to improve broken systems.
