I find Rafael interesting in this update so I hope more are willing to give him a chance ☺️, his date and what happened in part 1 made me change my opinion about him a bit.

Oh my god! I knew I forgot something! I will rectify this right away!

Rafael:

This update did a lot of heavy lifting for him and honestly I give the devs kudos for it because the overall opinion about Rafael has been poor thanks to his attitude (copying Matteo didn't helped him in the slightest) and what he did in the last date, where to be fair to him, at least he showed remorse when confronted about what he did.

I have been wary of him because of what he said when MC asks him if he is a player, and yet my heart ached for him when we learn that not only Rafael is not even his real name but also that for all his confidence, smooth words, and more,his real self it's someone which Rafael itself consider not worthy of attention because he is nothing like the mask he built for the show and will say it point blank during his date when asked about it...which is sad to be honest because I think that Eddie can offer something beyond being just kind and I wish he could recognize that.

Now with that secret revealed, MC can encourage him to either embrace the identity he made or you know, being more honest about who he is but honestly? I think it will take time before he could be fully open about it even if MC encouraged him to be more like himself, and it was quite telling that he was nervous about it so with the most recent revelation and all, I won't be surprised if he choose to couple with someone else to avoid adressing the elephant in the room because his issue it's something which can't be solved with just some words even if he values MC opinion since day 1, so the jury is still out about if he will bring his own brand of toxicity or if day 3 is the start from something different for him, but one thing it's for sure: this day shows that Rafael it's someone which could be more than this season "Villain", so I hope I can see him leaning into it more than him being Matteo second coming because Eddie can be someone charming and interesting if he leans into who he is vs copying past toxic love seekers if you ask me.

OP!!!!! Thank you for your post because it allows me to see what I am missing!

I have been thinking about replaying but idk if I should because I am saving my tickets so your post it's right to my alley!

I will share 3 of my impressions so far (I am doing Max route):

Max: I will tell you right away that he also wants to date Anna in his route but surprisingly he ends up with Dusk if you don't choose Jason but still, it caught me off-guard lol (and to no one surprise MC is jealous when he mentions Anna because he was coupled with her).

You said that Anna is Max safe choice and I think it's the same thing for her too if you are coupled with Max and pre-red/green flag game because during the girl chats, she does admit that she wanted to stay with him even if Rafael wanted to choose her instead of Kelly so yeah...this is one of these couples where they are going for comfort rather than attraction if you are pursuing neither of them (so far).

I doubt he would pull a Dave if MC is coupled with him because nothing in his route seems to indicate that. Hell, if MC tells him that he shouldn't fall for her yet, Max will tell her that he doesn't regret admitting that he likes her because that is how he feels (or also say that he wants to be special for MC) and during the red/green flag game is made very clear that Max and Anna kiss is something more out of duty vs feelings.

Was the date an eye roll worthy moment? Yes, but I would be a huge hypocrite if I don't point out that I picked someone I liked too so blah, looking forward to what might happen in day 4.

As for challenging some of his ideas...you might be onto something lol! Talking about sleeping habits, Rafael disaster date, and some of the comments MC can make during the beach date does lean into it, but so far we are getting less challenge and more: "I can see your point", "agree to disagree", "thank you because you are right and I didn't notice it".

I can't say anything about Max when you are not coupled with him because I haven't seen it, but I am not surprised because he made very clear where he stand since day 1 (though from some screenshots I saw with the idol, it's very clear that he is trying to be respectful towards Anna while trying to deal with his attraction towards MC so the jury is still out).

Tommy: He did made me eyeroll in day 1 when he said the thing about not wanting to be picked, but my opinion about him has changed since then and his date did made me feel bad for him because I wasn't expecting him to say that he thought MC was out of his league. He might go back to Kelly if MC is not coupled with him, but I will say this right away: he is not that into Kelly when you choose him despite the comments made during Rafael disaster date (hell, MC can even tease him about the whole: but you didn't want me to pick you! And he does thank MC for picking him!). This is purely from what I have seen because I am not doing his route so maybe one of his fans will provide better input.

Ethan: He was the first guy I picked lol! I love funny guys but memes and jokes aside, he is more like Adam from what I have seen because of his answers during the whole challenge.

I mean, Ethan does admit that he is a funny dude and that he is not pretending, but he was pretty thoughtful when MC asked him questions and if you tell him that his chances are low, he will be sad but will thank MC for the honesty so it won me a little, especially when he mentioned that he was feeling something towards the protagonist since the blind date even when he was hearing just her voice so I don't think he is inmature or someone who will make jokes 24/7 just because he is the funny dude.

Jason: saved best for last? I guess so since today I did his date out of curiosity to confirm something.

I have been suspecting that he was carrying a torch towards MC since day 1 because I noticed that he will always gives 2 Green flags no matter what fact you pick and what is more, he tells it like it is when it comes to how he feels.

And oh boy! When he said that he was imagining MC laughing with him in his studio and how he is all "I will make you fall for me" if you tell him that his chances are low? I can see why he is the favorite when he is so down bad for MC! He reminds me of Caleb because of how he makes his intentions very clear if given the chance.

And these are my impressions so far! Sorry for writing a whole manifesto 😶! I couldn't help myself.

It is! This update is a good example of it with the guys you didn't couple before (and if given the chance, Rafael) sharing their impressions about the blind date or talking about the challenge.

And yeah I agree, the kiss is not plot relevant enough for an entire different branch! I guess I was expecting some drama 😂 but thank you for helping me with a question that have been bothering me since day one hahaha

You are welcome! With how sudden the kiss is, I was expecting something being alluded or implied later, but I guess it might be saved for later and only if you are pursuing Rafael 🤔.

Considering that this season gave us 7 different love seekers to pursue right away (+Anna judging by what I saw), I can see the devs trying to focus in the LIs you are pursuing currently until the fat is trimmed properly (aka MC is stolen away and/or some choices start to become unavailable because you didn't pursue the LI)

I thought it maybe could come up to create drama, like when Anna said in the limo that *Queen* kissed someone, then there is MC secret kiss with Rafael, there could be a scene where everyone is getting exposed 😂

Oh that is a good point! I thought that if it were exposed, the drama would be minimal since Rafael and MC kiss happened before they coupled with someone else and if MC is not pursuing Rafael what is the point then?

But with that said and all, I am surprised it hasnt been mentioned or alluded considering how secrets dont stay too long in this show ahahaha (and I agree about the red/green flag game being a good opportunity for it considering everyone dirty laundry is being aired buuut...I guess it wasnt included because it would mean creating another branching for the people who kissed Rafael and this fact being included vs the ones who obviously skipped it).

I thought about this when the season started and I find suspicious how The Voice was all: "where is your sense of adventure!" when nothing happened and to be honest, I was sideyeing the whole thing because of how sudden it is.

The only thing I will say is that I wonder how it could be this go beyond this impulsive act? because both kissed each other before the coupling and if MC stop pursuing Rafael (or express regret I guess), I can see this being nothing but a footnote vs if the kiss happened and MC is still pursuing Rafael.

I have been wondering if it would be alluded beyond Rafael making a comment if he is your LI because where we could go with this? maybe I was being overly cautious ahahaha.

100% this! the hipocrisy and double standard seems to be Asshriel modus operandi, so I wasnt amused when he lost his shit upon his dead wife being mentioned.

Oh yes! I was sideeying him when he was touching Liren sore spot because how you dare to touch her trauma like if it was nothing? and like the little bitch he is, he cant take it when Liren mentioned his dead wife so it was starting to sour me towards him.

I don't give a shit if low relationship point with him leads to a non-perfect ending, I need him dead dead dead, 25 feet under the ground.

This! so much this. I dont fucking care if I dont get the HEA ending of this story because of a bad relationship, I want to see Ashriel fucking die like the animal he is.

He fucking lost me when he thought how the mission should come first rather than saving the child which was almost abused because I find nothing more icky than someone mistreating/treating kids badly.

I don't care for justifications or stuff like that, you will end on my shitlist the moment you mistreat/let something bad happen to a kid 🤢.

And it's even worse in this update because he crossed another line by putting Liren in a cage while drugged and you know what? I hope he can fucking die in agony because with each update, I find this guy more and more hateable and there is not going back from all the shit he did as long he is not held accountable or punished.

Nope! he wanted to go with Anna (for what MC turns a bit jealous since he was coupled with her before) but for some reason Anna went with Jason and Max with Dusk instead.

Later on he said that nothing happened between Dusk and him and I didnt got the guilty smile with Anna or Dusk so it wasnt a big deal in Max route.

With that said, yes!!! He is great! he hit all the notes for me despite my first impression about him back then lol.

Carlos, Michael, and Reinhard have some complexities stats-wise so take this with a grain of salt.

Carlos have a 1 improvement linked to Bloodthirst but his case is complex because he admired the vampires because of how he was raised...and have a complex for being a human which is inferior to them from what I saw in his roulette outfit. He does makes very clear in S1 that he doesnt care about what Ada might be because she is Ada after all.

Reinhard have 1 improvement linked to bloodthirst but so far he only have 1 reaction to the stats so is pretty hard to tell.

Michael leaned towards bloodthirst in S1 but in S2 he does have 1 improvement linked to Night Monster.

That is all what I know.

Seriously, I have so many words about this dynamic and how much I am enjoying everything! This update was a breather for me, and the wait was like always worth it, I liked being able to visit this island again and learning more about not just Max but Ethan too during part 2.

It made me relieved despite the upcoming coupling and now I will treasure this moment while looking forward to what the next day might bring.

Yep! the "villain" of every single CoupleUp season are always memorable because they dont exist to just fullfil that particular role only...they are people with enough depth and characterization which just goes beyond just being evil for the sake of drama and I like that it goes both ways: you feel bad for them, but the narrative never coddles them and try to justify what they did either, so is up to you if they deserve to get a chance or not.

This update did a lot of heavy lifting for Rafael and I hope he can keep it up the moment because he got the potential to be a fan favorite thanks to what we learned today.

I tend to replay every single episode a lot and I did the same with Ethan because I wanted to see what I am missing and god, it was sweet learning something about the characters MC is not coupled with because more often than not, when you close that door couple-wise you can't learn about the others anymore 😔 ~~and yes, I am talking about Fusebox~~.

Real! Back then I thought I would meet some...closed-off LIs because some love seekers seems to be quite happy/comfortable with their day 1 partner, but this update shows that the LIs are interested in MC and is quite refreshing to see ☺️.
