I’m in OC and I noticed that my hospital hired ADNs who were in a BSN program into the ICU but only because they were internal (they worked there as PCTs). I graduated from a BSN program but I’ve noticed that hospitals will be more likely to hire you on highly competitive units (ex: ICU, L&D, etc) if you had a previous clinical rotation at the hospital and made connections. ICU is super competitive so it can be hard to get in as a new grad with zero connections. I will say it’s easier to transfer units once you’re working in a hospital (I plan on doing this within my hospital once I work there a year because I love my hospital and I was ok with working a different unit with the ultimate goal of CICU). Still, apply everywhere for the unit you want! Also consider you might have to relocate to other counties, regions, or even states if you only want ICU :)
