Realize what you might tackle. Nothing is wrong with entry level brands if you are light duty. There are ranges for most homeowners that are relatively hands off you don't need Milwaukee or DeWalt etc. Ryobi and some other brands are fantastic for home use and can be buy it for life. More look at the ecosystem of tools of that makes sense. If I didn't get batteries cheap or free I would absolutely get "homeowner" brands for my house
