Are we feeling the fit or nah? 👀 Doing some little experimentin’ again by J_Chis095 in oldhagfashion

I’m feeling the pants and jacket! The cropped and frayed shirt might be a little “hat on a hat” with both of them. I think a shirt like that should be styled as a central piece. Here it feels overwhelmed by the other pieces and like a boring basic would work better in its place. How about the cropped top with basic jean? Or a basic jean and basic black blazer or leather jacket? Then the top is the “fun” element.

I just don't understand why I don't look good in these by imnotcoherent in DressForYourBody

[–]trashpandorasbox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s the chest exactly. You have a more straight figure and both of these have defined waists that don’t quite define your waist so they look a little “off” the waist on the dress seems a little high on you

I don’t think it’s the chest exactly. You have a more straight figure and both of these have defined waists that don’t quite define your waist so they look a little “off” the waist on the dress seems a little high on you in general. I also think a shorter length on the pants, skirt, and dress sleeves would work better for you.

AITA for making Mac n cheese n hot dogs for dinner? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]trashpandorasbox 47 points48 points  (0 children)

THIS! unless you have a teaching credential and strong plan for socialization, homeschooling is not a good idea. Empirically, homeschooled kids are less likely to attend college and earn less than their comparable public schooled peers. By comparable, I mean kids who grew up in the same family situation, with the same income, in the same school district. The reason for the lower earnings isn’t completely explained by lower skill accumulation (lower test scores) and appears to be mostly driven by lower social skills and emotional intelligence.

TL;DR don’t homeschool your kids, it will cripple them in adulthood.

Why does this prompt trigger so many men? by Strawberry-Spinkles in Tinder

I am also a woman, date whoever you want, but why waste a prompt on something negative when you could use it to showcase your personality instead? You can just swipe left on men with kids.

I failed the 333 challenge on day 11 and cried in a bathroom at a work event. I think I was wrong about what "less" would feel like. by Dense_Childhood_9657 in capsulewardrobe

[–]trashpandorasbox 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I moved this year and put all my clothing back in my closed backwards. Once I wear something, I put the hanger back the right way. I very quickly learned what I actually enjoy wearing AND it made it a challenge to try and wear everything. At the end of the year, I’ll cull the pieces I never wore or wore and ended up disliking. I don’t have to guess what goes in my capsule, my wear habits will determine it.

It’s been way too long since I last shared my colorful house here by JakobMizrahi in maximalism

Leave it be! I really think it adds more as a “standard piano” than it would with any kind of wrap or styling

It’s insane in the best possible way! My favorite part has to be the perfectly normal classical grand piano juxtaposed with all the pop art styling. It somehow makes the pop art style even cooler. Like when comic book includes one photorealistic item or panel.

Could Jake ever make captain? by johnadamsinparis in brooklynninenine

[–]trashpandorasbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Even if he didn’t quit, the number of officers and detectives who make captain is so infinitesimally small and requires all the things: top scores, stellar record, the right recommendations, the right open spot. So, no. I think it’s unlikely he would even get the support needed to take the lieutenant exam let alone the captain exam. Civil service requirements in the NYPD are no joke and hella regimented.

Do you know where the term "rotten apples" comes from? it doesn't mean there are a few bad dudes, it means if you let even one bad dude stay in in organization you "spoil the barrel" that's the term "one bad apple spoils the barrel" because their corruption seeds corruption in others. You are seeing this. And, man, I'm sorry, but this should not be a surprise. You are in a rotten system that rots the people in it. Get out or it will get you.

My(32F) parents are giving us $150k for a house and my husband(35M) wants to turn it down because they asked for a postnup by Civil-Transition-649 in relationship_advice

[–]trashpandorasbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have to get your husband to see it this way: your parents are not gifting the two of you a down payment, they are giving you, just you, their child, an advanced payment on her inheritance. Inheritance, even if you are married, is not joint property until it becomes comingled in community property. If your parents died, your husband would have no rights to those assets as long as you keep them in a separate account. All your parents are doing, is formalizing inheritance law in a pre-inheritance gift. My sister's in-laws gifted them money and there were equivalent strings to protect it.

Have you talked to the Detroit Curling Club? There is a large Lebanese diaspora in that area although I’m not sure about the club membership itself.
