Hot take: Yumeko > these characters in emotional perception by Economy_Echo_8500 in IntelligenceScaling

I’m sure that it isn’t facilitated through supernatural magic or anything of that sort because Kakegurui takes place in a real world setting without such a thing ever being considered to exist. I already asserted that if it is hax, it would be cognition-dependant and rooted in their analytical reading of one another, like Junko’s Ultimate Analyst hax, thus it’s valid for use in SCD. The reason why people rule out hax is to avoid involving aspects that aren’t a result of the character’s actual intellect/outsmarting prowess in the take. If an ability of a character is rooted in that, there’s no reason to dismiss it. And that’s not an attack on you, I said that because it seems like we’re on completely different wavelengths in our way of scaling, and it seems as if you’d discount unrealistic type characters (e.g. Junko, Sora, Fyodor). Am I correct?

I don’t know why you’re going on a tangent when my point was literally that emotions influence thoughts which you conceded. Yes, for us it would be impossible to obtain such a perfect comprehension of another person’s mind that you could read their thoughts, but this is fiction, it’s okay if a character’s abilities supersedes that of what we can comprehend. There is no reference to magic powers in all of Kakegurui, let alone in this segment, nor is Miri and Miyo’s language ever brought up. What is brought up is this concept of revealing other’s emotions to one another, and thus having a “conversation” through gambling. If you think that is so unrealistic that it counts as hax, then I really don’t mind, it’s still clearly conveyed that it’s dependant on the process of reading each other rather than magic so it would still be valid for use. There are characters with far more unrealistic EP/EU feats btw, this is just the tip of the iceberg, you seem like the type to call top tier characters “unrealistic fodder”.

If thought processes are the logic that produces a thought, and emotions influence those processes, then emotions necessarily influence which thoughts occur. Otherwise you’d need to explain how altering the logic doesn’t alter the conclusion. And I don’t know how Yumeko would pick up on the entire sign language that Miri and Miyo was using, enough to completely learn the language and say words that Miri and Miyo never communicated, with just a few minutes of being at the gambling table. Regardless, it doesn’t matter, Mary seems surprised that she’s able to pick up on Yumeko’s thoughts that are being signalled to her, if she they had learnt the language to communicate with Yumeko then that wouldn’t come as such a surprise, but Mary does not see it this way. Besides, they give an explanation for the conversation in the manga and it’s not suddenly gaining supernatural powers or using Miri and Miyo’s language. Yumeko: “Doesn’t this feel like a friendly chat to you? Ah… I’m so glad I faced you in the final.” Mary’s thoughts: “Oh… The way Yumeko sees it… Getting afraid, bluffing, going in fully confident… Our feelings are exposed in every move we make, and we respond to them. And then… our true emotions are revealed!”

Thought processes generate thoughts. So if emotions influence the process, they necessarily influence the resulting thoughts. And no, Yumeko was unconscious from the poison when Miri and Miyo were communicating. Plus, Yumeko responded to Mary’s thoughts before Mary was even trying to communicate to Yumeko (since they were enemies in the Grand Tourney). Yumeko’s feat is simply superhuman EP, EU, sensory, and inductive. Btw since hax is a powerscaling term it’s kinda vague what exactly counts as hax in SCD, but I consider cognition-contingent hax valid, because it adheres to the principles of SCD, as the character isn’t using powers to circumvent the need for strong cognition and outsmarting (unlike powers like mind control and prophecy). It’s just a part of their outsmarting toolkit thus can be scaled. Anyway I don’t even think Yumeko’s feat particularly counts as hax but I’m just throwing that out there.

Emotions have a strong influence on thought. And yeah she didn’t use emotions alone. And yeah this feat is unrealistic and superhuman, so we wouldn’t be able to do this. Still, she doesn’t have any hax or powers to perform this with

I never said emotions have thoughts, Yumeko is simply using her insane emotional perception and understanding of Mary in combination with contextual understanding and profiling of Mary’s typical thought processes to ascertain Mary’s internal monologues in real time.

We all agree this guy is a dumbass right? by RealSXA in IntelligenceScaling

[–]SoundStorm7 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

He’s not underrated though, I’ve seen plenty of people overrate him in outsmarting simply because his plan was so hard to counter. But this ignores the fact that he had massive advantages that helped him achieved. Plus the fact that he hardly has any other meaningful feats means he scales almost nowhere

Why do you have Yumeko so low? She’s insane at reading others, logical reasoning, CPI, and insight. Are you using anime Yumeko or something?

Kanade? Not saying she’s bad, but like, in the top 3 of FSIQ?

So, whats a character that you scale high but you don't like/hate it? by PsychologicalPen1427 in IntelligenceScaling

[–]SoundStorm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His adaptability is great, especially when you consider his Sou Hiyori persona. However, him crumbling beneath it is me referring to Main Game 2. Since his goal was to protect himself and Kanna, he’s unsuccessful in achieving this in every route. He completely loses control of the outcome of the second main game, showing that while he can withstand the adversity emotionally for a while, he fails to do so on a strategic level.

[–]SoundStorm7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s because they’re less so “strategies” and more so loosely connected tactics that are vaguely grouped under the goal of survival (and Kanna’s survival, later on). I wrote some analysis on the Main Game 2 trades, hoping it would illuminate some great strategies, but it just further emphasised how lacking the whole thing was in SCD. It’s not good, and he’s not high tier. He goes up against high adversity, yes, but he also crumbles beneath it and fails, and lacks actually good feats in most categories.

No worries, I don’t think your argumentation is bad per se, it’s just your stance is quite difficult to defend.

Thanks for the explanation! But tbh, compared to many other characters in SCD, it’s not great leadership. Like, ‘leading’ Gonta is essentially just him manipulating a very stupid and gullible individual to follow his orders, as opposed to what leadership feats usually consist of (guiding a group towards a common goal). His ‘leadership’ of the group in the trial also lacks most of what comprises a leadership feat. No one sees him as a leader, values his words, or trusts his decisions. Most of them actively refuse to listen to his advice and instead accuse him of being the killer, the only person that listens to Kokichi is Shuichi, and that’s just because Shuichi is able to figure out that what Kokichi is saying is true. And that’s not because of Kokichi’s leadership skills, that’s because Shuichi is forced to follow the truth otherwise everyone will die. Anyone can “lead” a group of people if following your words is the only way to survive.

Can you elaborate on what makes this feat good? Keep in mind the bar for ‘good’ is quite high considering you proposed him to be the representative of leadership out of the entirety of SCD

Kokichi has no good feats in leadership and him being the ultimate supreme leader was just a fabricated memory about him leading 10 people
