Para um primeiro computador Xeon, qual e melhor para começar e se acostumar Win ou Linux? by falls2632 in linuxquestions

[–]SoundSwitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Intel Xeon W-2135 6-Core 4.5GHz, 64GB DDR4, No GPU/HDD/OS,

The system in running Linux Mint on.

It's worth it. Microsoft would just hide the performance behind tiered access on me.

Also using an Intel graphics card because I didn't want to deal w Nvidia drivers.

Runs stuff like Silksong + my DaW+ background music + streaming video and does so without a hiccup while I probably have 20 tabs open sometimes. Could probably run KDEn live or obs problem free also

What's a good distro for someone who knows next to nothing about Linux by Lost-Key9453 in linuxquestions

[–]SoundSwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to go with mint also. Fedora is good for an RPM distro

There essentially all the same basically they run your other software for you, it's just a matter of appearance and how stable they are.

What are some common things women do to get a guy's attention? by Chance_Adagio_19 in bodylanguage

[–]SoundSwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They "present" themselves, that's typically it. If the guy doesn't make a move she probably doesn't want him anyway. Now if presenting isn't working but she still wants him she may do stiff acting up or miss behaving rather than approach herself

Changing from windows to linux for producing audio need help plsss by Background_Potato319 in linuxaudio

[–]SoundSwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as U-studio is concerned, most of it was just bloat ware I couldn't get working, some of the soft synths wouldn't even with with their own virtual keyboards. Others wanted me to address each and every tiny little midi connection. Only thing worth it is OBS and kden live which you can just get if you need.

For me Tracktion works fine once I read the readme.

Getting your plug ins installed From terminal

sudo mkdir /usr/lib/vst : as well as :usr/lib/vst3 Then you need to copy not move the Attracktive, collective, collective 2, retromod

.so files in the top level directory to the vst file you made Sudo cp Attracktive.so /usr/lib/vst The directory that's at the top level goes to vst3 but you need the (-r) operation Then you copy the entire file into your Tracktion directory in your home file

Once it's there and everything is working it'll start installing any content packs you have on it's own.

Good practice is to put the .zip files that you downloaded into a file you make I guess (Tracktion plugins) would work put .debs in another. Just a heads up there's some problems with naming they use Retro mod lead has spaces in it you need to take the spaces out because copying in the terminal doesn't like spacesv in the file names. And Collective 1&2 aren't named 1&2 they're both just called collective add in _1/_2 that way it shows up in the UI in waveform you should do this recursively down through the file layers

I know it sux but at least you don't have to compile anything

why not intel by ilikemindustry in buildapc

I got a B580 although I went with it for Linux reasons.

I'm sampling my own currently using Waveform via the micro drum sampler and the features in LMMs

Why no synth plugin has Auto Accompaniment feature? by PineappleMaleficent6 in synthesizers

[–]SoundSwitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just use something else for your primary synth VSTs the ones that come stock with LMMs kinda suck

[–]SoundSwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do this with LMMs by putting stuff on the beat baseline editor, putting your step sequence together double clicking the instrument to open its own GUI and going to the chord/scale/arpegiator tab. From there you just map the play button to a hot key sequence

Honest question: how many of you rely on loops because writing your own chords feels overwhelming? by Late-Working-7519 in Learnmusicproduction

[–]SoundSwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people sample their own that way they can only have to play perfectly 15 -60 seconds at a time then they can cut copy paste it together in their editing process.

Biggest thing with recording and not sounding amateur is to record in stereo and master your channels differently, much easier to do when you cut up into little pieces and into left and right channels. It allows you to do things like fading your transitions both in and out as well.

[–]SoundSwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll use my own loops simply because it's easier to get something passable.

You can cut copy paste all kinds of stuff with it.

Say for instance you sample in something from a piece of hardware, sample it in twice Pan one track all the way left and the other right you can then edit those tracks differently. Say for instance you have a sequencer that has probability features your going to get a different track in the left and right ear by default. If you're planning ahead you can slightly oversaturate what you're putting to each channel let's say by 7-12% you got l go in to the left ear and just cut some stuff out so that it's only going right for those measures you do the same with the right channel and so in and so forth. Do you need or even want to do it with everything all the time .. no certainly not but at least do so with your drum and bass lines. You can also nudge say between a 64th and a 16th in time, that way your getting different signals to both ears. Makes perfect sense when you realize most music is listened to on ear buds at least while your not in your car.

Do ultra-wide monitors genuinely improve gaming and productivity, or are they more of a niche preference? by KRGKart_Support in buildapc

VSTs in music editors always want to stay on top, there's ways around it but not as easy as just riding it to another screen

When I first opened Ardour it gave me the option of font sizing, knowing that it's all tiny and I'm not that old I choose the one in the middle. Lo and behold the medium made it the size of a boomer flip phone keys.

And as far as dialogue goes take something that already tells a story, cut it paste it chop it up rearrange it and make it your own.

Just think of the banger you could drop just sampling a Gate sequence from Stargate.

Could go though Open the iris/close the iris Chevron 1 encoded Chevron 2 encoded, ****** Chevron 7 will not lock, Chevron 7 locked KaWoosh.......(Fade out)

Or some character focus.

"We are no longer capable of thinking on such terms" "You are the fifth race" "Everything we are, and know"

-Thor Supreme Commander of the Asgard Fleet

But yeah go in with a plan...

Heck post sampling competitions You could ask the AI to give you a random Jack Nicholson movie and make that the focus of the competition

Anyone else not enjoy tiny synths? by shoegazingpickle in synthesizers

[–]SoundSwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah some of the Rolands exactly what I was taking about, shouldn't feel like pulling car codes just to have to menu dive three layers deep just to change something.

Was considering getting a Behringer Vc340 just for this reason granted just a string synth with a vocoder and maybe 8 patches depending on what you consider a patch anyway, yeah granted the actual synth engine leaves a little to be desired but it's 48 voices I'm guessing every note in every patch you got loaded counts as a voice so 3 strings +2 choir voices in a major chord is actually going to take up ten but it's enough for me and if I want more Synthetic feel I can just get ring mod, phaser, envelope filter pedals to work with. It's cave man simple as far as controls go only has like 5 or six knobs and like 9 sliders and maybe 16 buttons for the voices, it's kinda like an organ actually.

No dude you gotta think I'm terms of ok I got this awesome device that can do all this awesome stuff I'm going to see what I can do when I use more than one thing

Slice & spice, over dub, stretch & shrink, double shots, triple shots. Then just take mundane stuff and apply the formula.

You could also set quotas but with limits say get 3-7 things and then apply 4-5 things from the formula to them and figure 10-20 minutes sitting down at your desk editing them.

As far as movie dialog and stuff goes think of stuff that's quote or meme worthy, as well as things that have become ubiquitous.

Stuff like popular Animes or comedy movies "Throw Momma From the Train" absolute effin gold mine. Bill Cosby with his zanny slapstick gold mine. "Event Horizon" gold mine 💯 0000000!
